There's a New Mexico Bowl?
When will they start up the South Dakota Bowl?

At 6-6 we will go bowling for several reasons.
As others have mentioned, it will be the first bowl for SMU in 22 years.
Other media interests will be the play of Willis, Sanders, Givens, Martin, et. al. We have some great really young players that the media would love to showcase. It provides a lot of interesting information for the annoucers, not to mention, that with all the youth on the field, this SMU team should be around for the next 3-4 years.
The PHOENIX has risen and is back in the spotlight.
Just send 'da money.

MWC has 3 bowl tie ins.
BYU (5-2), Colorado State (4-3), New Mexico (4-4), TCU (4-2), Utah (4-4), Wyoming (4-4).
Those are the teams fighting for 3 bowls.
I think with the New Mexico Bowl we have 4, plus TCU has a deal with the new Texas Bowl if the Big 12 or BE don't make their slots. I think TCU will either go to the Fort Worth Bowl or the Texas Bowl this year.
WRONG...read the other thread about "whos bowl eligible" and then go to espn.com/ncf...ESPN mite be wrong but i highly doubt so.
TCU wont go to the texas bowl because the Big 12 and BE will fill every slot they have. TCU is fighting to be top 3 in the MVC or they stay home like they did 3 years ago if my memory is right.

So how do you explain 1997? Shouldn't we have gotten an at-large birth that year?

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

I am not so sure about that year but not every team that is eligible goes bowling. most 6-6, 6-5 teams dont make bowls. It all depends on teams that dont fill there conference bowl bids.

That would all depend on how many bids the WAC had. Which I would bet money on was not many, unlike C-USA which has 5.

Putting in consideration that the WAC has 3 bids this year, I am sure that they had 3 or 2 in 1997.

Thanks, you helped proved my point. We have a better chance at getting a bid going 6-6 in C-USA than going 6-5 in WAC in 1997. Had there been 5 bowls maybe we would have gone to a bowl in 1997, but there weren't so we didn't.
I don't want to go 6-6, but I would think it's completely feasible to think that we could get a bowl bid going 6-6.
