Change Around the Corner

After reading a very interesting article about the Baylor Bears on ESPN.com, http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2638427 , I have realized that football in the state of Texas is making a turn.

No longer are the Baylor Bears a Big XII doormat, playing SMU is no longer a guarenteed victory, UNT is no longer a SUN BELT powerhouse, and TCU is falling off its rocker again. Power is shifting in the state of Texas to teams that have been 'gone' for a while. ESPN says the Bears are coming out of hibernation as they are on brink to become bowl eligible for the first time in over a decade (1994). UT football is now back on top after a National Championship last year, Texas Tech has always been a contender for the past 5 years, A&M is finallying winning the 'big game' with Coach Fran, Guy Morris is doing special things at Baylor, and SMU is off to its best start in almost a decade at 4-4 (same mark as Baylor). TCU is fading in the wind this year. With hopes of a BCS birth, the frogs dropped 2 straight earlier this year.

With one month left in the college football 'regular' season, SMU is on the verge of going bowling along with Baylor, TCU is fighting for a bowl bid now, UT is chasing the BCS to defend its title, and UNT will be sitting at home again after it had won 4 straight conference titles at one point.

Just thought I would point out that Texas football is changing as SMU and Baylor are both contenders. Something that most people would not have thought at the beginning of this year.

GOOD LUCK TO THE STANGS in their final 4 games and to Baylor who has a very tough road ahead of them to become eligible.
