Everyone bring a bowl and tie it onto your head to show that you want us to be bowl-bound.

You've just given me a GREAT idea for a Halloween costume to wear to the game!

Better yet, wrap up in a large intestine and go as bowel bound.

Question: Who's dressing up as Mr. Moneybags? Who's dressing up as Ken Pye? Who's dressing up as Gov. Clements? Who's dressing up as David Stanley? Who's dressing up as Dale Hansen? Who's dressing up as Coach Collins?

I like the hoofbeats as well . . no need to beg for people to do things they obviously do not want to do!
And if they can just keep doing the hoofbeats until the snap of the ball . . . then the laziness that is the typical SMU fan can do what they always do . . . sit on it!
Sports, and all that implies.

MM1965, perhaps you could email the guy who sent you the email about the PA announcer thing and give them the idea

The 1st down thing is a good idea-- they did it @ UTEP.
And the Border Bandits we're howling it after each "F-I-R-S-T D-O-W-N, U-T-E-P".
YOU WANT THE TRUTH? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!

At OK State the announcer would say "thats another Cowboy first down" and all the students in the front row would lean over and beat the pads on the wall ten times.

Here is how it works at ECU for those who weren't at the game (and those who were there, but are mis-quoting it):
PA announcer: "The ball will be spotted at the 40 yard line where it is a FIRST DOWN..."
Crowd: "PIRATES!!!!"
PA announcer (and some fans): AAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
The last part is new.
A lot of schools do some variation of this. Good luck against UAB.
GO PIRATES!!!

I think the first down thing will work, but I think everybody has gotten a handle on the third-down thunder. The jumbotron and the sound of hoofbeats would probably be sufficient. Although, I don't mind the verbal reminder. I really liked the bells at the ECU game. It was a cool way of letting the crowd know to get loud. However, let's stay away from things like the bird cry at NTSU. That was just funny.
