Bennett's Defense is in TROUBLE against UAB

The Blazers play two quarterbacks: Chris Williams (5-11, 205) and Sam Hunt (6-3, 215).

The passer, Williams, has started in recent weeks. On the year, he’s thrown for 936 yards, with eight touchdowns and six interceptions.

Hunt is the option threat. The Blazers run the Dead-T, a version of the Wishbone.

That's not to suggest for a second that Tuesday's game is a done deal, by any means. But personally, I'm more worried about Hunt -- the "running QB" -- considering the difficulty running QBs have given us in the past.

first game of Bennett's head coach reign against NAVY via the option,
and the last against ECU via air, Chicken Little's reports are NOT so
unfounded

As I have said a number of times before, the coaches can teach it, but the guys on the field have to make it happen. Our 27 to 7 win over Rice last year tells me the coaches know how to defend the option. The question is will the players take those lessons on to the field. My recollection is that relative to the option, they have this year on several occassions.

From the discriptions of UAB's passing QB's accomplishments posted here, he isn't up to the quality of the ECU QB. That being said, our DBs have got to play much better...you will get no argument from me on that. And let's not forget, our offense can be very potent and have been at home for sure. So I'm not worried about any falling sky hazards.

Bottom line, the team that wants this win the most and plays like it will win it.

the option always makes me nervous... once a team gets on a role with it, the defense starts guessing instead of sticking to the game plan and thats when the big plays happen. option defense is strictly assignment based, if one person misses an assignment it gives the possibility for a big play. hopefully the front four can get in the back field and disrupt some things, but I feel confident that both Reggie and Joe will have their defense ready to go
