[quote="BUS"]THIS IS GREAT. We have too many really good backs.
Come on guys be happy"....... I agree that we have several good backs and certainly Martin is a quality back when healthy which he proved last year and I like Dorsey's versatility also. Dorsey can do so manys things well. My post was strictly talking about the " potential " of James Mapps being a future great back and the fact is he is good now.
yah its nice to have a stable of RB's we can throw in the game... Its safe to assume everyone thought this season would be on the shoulders of DM, and I'm glad thats not the case due to all of his injuries. I had a friend over to watch the game and he was impressed with how big and strong DM looked. This season isnt a good season to just say Mapps is the RB next year... Not sure whether it is the coaches, trainers, DM, or a combination of all 3 who keep trying to get him back, but this has not been his year. Anyone who has had a serious injury or a severe pull knows, when you come back too soon you have not only a good chance of reinjuring it, but also injuring something else because of trying to protect yourself. Hopefully in DM will get healthy after the bowl game and we can have some good competition in the spring... i wish this was our problem int the secondary ![]()
DeMyron, if this is you, I hope your shoulder feels better quickly -- hope it's not serious. We all know Martin is the power back in this offense. Mapps and Fitzgerald and Dorsey and Henderson and Turner all have their talents, but for raw power, none of them touch Martin. For evidence, just watch a tape of the win over Froggy High last year, when he carried guys for a lot of yards after being hit. When he's healthy, Martin can blow folks up. He had that one play Tuesday where he put his shoulder down and blasted through guys for a pickup of 10 or 12 yards, but he seemed hesitant on several carries. I don't know if his foot is still bothering him, or his hamstring, but he doesn't look like the same guy. But the talent is there, and the power is there. Get healthy, DeMyron, and come back strong! "What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"
- Randy Galloway ESPN Radio (103.3 FM)
I think I can safely say that most of the people who post on this board and live in the area were there. I understand that some huge guy landed on you and drove your shoulder into the ground. Hope it isn't too serious and just sore. We need you back at 100% healthy. Take care of yourself and do what the trainers and doctors tell you to do.
I was not, I had trick-or-treating commitments in Lake Highlands that kept me from the game. But I will be there at homecoming, and I think my trick-or-treater will be there in her SMU cheer outfit. No, mrydel, it's not my wife.
We made the drive over from Fort Worth for the game, and I was surprised to see a lot of alumni from my year (2002) on a Tuesday night.
Demyron - hope the shoulder heals up soon, we need you in the backfield! It's great to have a 1-2 punch of a strong, physical runner and a quick, elusive back to change the pace. "Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise."
Does that mean I have to supply another seat?
She is 6 folks. No dirty old man jokes are appropriate. I would let her have my wife's seat, but that would mean jt in my lap and that is not going to happen. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Oh come on JT...fess up...it was your wife. Did you get treats or tricks...or in this case is that the same thing? ![]()
