Kenzie is fine

Postby Bigtime41 » Mon Nov 06, 2006 3:56 pm

In the first exhibition game Kenzie was 3-4 from the 3-point line and ended with 13. I should say right now she is fine. There were actually 3 that were hurt- Elbie Gates, Chelsa Tiner, Katie Gross. The first two should be back by the season. Alice Severin should be back and she will make a big impact for this team. SMU Women's team will surprise alot of people this year.

The ladies looked really good in their second exhibition. The team they beat had played closer games with powerhouse Maryland and top 25 TCU than with us. They also beat Rice and UH. Granted, they had played something like 6 days in a row, but we still looked very good against them. This should be a very good season for the ladies.

Glad to see the support

I am thrilled that someone other than 2-3 people have seen these ladies in action. Once they get Alice Severin back and sure up the rotation, it should be very interesting and entertaining. The best is yet to come. I honestly believe they will make the "Dance"! You heard it first.

I think our biggest obstacle to making the tourney will be the strength of the conference. Unfortunately, women's basketball competition took a step down when we left the WAC. The WAC was no powerhouse, but it was the type of conference that typically ranked 7-9 nationally. Conference USA has many weak teams and that makes your RPI look bad. I think we will have to win either the regular season or conference tournament title to make the dance. Rice is our biggest competition, with Tulsa and a couple others also dangerous.

That's Fair

That was initially a concern however they are playing 5 teams that made the tourney last year. The biggest is Duke whom they play in Cancun. If they play and give themselves a chance to win, even if they lose it's a plus on the RPI. Yeah, conference make up is a factor but strength of schedule counts too. The biggest challenge is for them to win on the road and don't lose at home. They have 17 games at home and if they win at home then that means 3 plus wins and you are at 20 plus games. Winning conference or the Conference tournament is achievable. They should sneek up on some people and the conference as whole regarding talent got a big boost from the 2006 class. It should be entertaining nevertheless.
