Terrance Ganaway Game FileModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower I have been quietly following this thread for some time. And I have a question for those watching him play. I would think by now every coach in 2A knows about Ganaway. Are they not loading up to try and slow/stop him? I am amazed that this late in the season he is getting 400+ yards on the ground!
Is the talent on the opposite side just that bad? It is impressive either way, but I am curious about the rest of the story from anyone that has been present.
I haven't seen him play but its really not so out of the ordinary for a top notch 2A back who has Division 1A talent to run for 10 yards per carry and rush for huge yards. If I remember correctly Bam Morris averaged about 13 yards per carry at Cooper in the early 1990s. The greats of Texas 2A History like Dickerson, Sims, Overstreet and others have all had those kinds of numbers of course. Actually I believe those guys were actually the old 2A which now would be considered 3A. Its a whole different ball game and 2A kids such as Burley often take a little longer to adjust to Division 1A football because they aren't able to physically outman their opponent like they can at 2A. Sometimes the coaching at 2A leaves a lot to be desired too. They may go a whole season and not even play against a Division 1A players-only about 10-15 in the entire class sign with a Division 1A school each year. The lower the classification the bigger the gamble-correlate that to the "top recruits" SMU has signed from 3A and 2A and the Private Schools and there is a pretty high percentage of what the recruiting critics consider "busts" The key is if Ganaway has the physical tools such as speed, quickness and agility to play at the 1A level. It will be interesting to watch him develop.
You say that..... but with numbers like this - let's hope we watch him develop with us. Speaking of ... what kind of insane numbers did he put up tonight? ... I'm dying to know. That is of course, unless he was on a bye tonight. ![]() Eric Dickerson in Pony Excess "I've love winning man, it's like better than losing." - Ebby Calvin "Nuke" LaLoosh
I will post the exact numbers when I get the paper in the morning, but Ganaway had approximately 200 yds and 3 TD's in leading the (10-1) DeKalb Bears to a 42-26 Bi-District Championship victory over (9-2) Winnsboro. I know Ganaway had a 70+ yd TD run and a 60+ yd TD run, and I think he had a pick in the endzone, as well.
179 yds on 33 carries & 2 TD's vs. New Boston
169 yds on 27 carries & 2 TD's vs. Queen City 144 yds on 25 carries & 2 TD's vs. Hughes Springs 344 yds on 27 carries & 4 TD's vs. San Augustine 252 yds on 31 carries & 3 TD's vs. Paris Chisum 283 yds on 30 carries & 3 TD's vs. Cooper 317 yds on 26 carries & 4 TD's vs. Honey Grove 224 yds on 24 carries & 4 TD's vs. Rivercrest 417 yds on 46 carries & 6 TD's vs. Clarksville 135 yds on 28 carries & 3 TD's vs. Prairiland 222 yds on ?23? carries & 3 TD's vs. Winnsboro *Bi-District playoff game* 2686 yds on approximately 320 carries and 36 TD's thru 11 games. 8.4 yds per carry 244 yds per game 29 carries per game 3.27 TD's per game And, I heard that the Houston Cougars are showing him a lot of interest as a starting RB. But, that is just hearsay.
I saw the replay of his 72 yard run in the playoff game. It looked I was out there trying to catch him. He got the corner and it was over.
there's 2A High School Football for you when theres a kid head and shoulders above the competition, or for something you can relate to, Anthony Aldrige vs. SMU's Run D last week against Houston
Yeah, I am not real sure what happened at the camp where he was clocked at 4.65 in the 40. He must have had a bad day, becasue he is faster than that.
according to Scout which is free over Thanksgiving Ganaway had a scheduled visit to UH on 11/3. Scout lists him as a soft verbal to SMU. Scout also claims UH offered. BTW I think I know what you were saying but Alridge was a highly recruited player at Denton which I believe is 4A. He made several Top 100 Lists.
