Per Kate H. we would likely be out of contention at 6-6:

SMU (5-5, 3-3 Conference USA) finds itself probably needing wins in its final two games to get to its first bowl since 1984. Six wins make a team bowl eligible, but with the way the rest of the conference has played out, it's highly probable that seven wins will be required to earn a berth.

C-USA has five guaranteed bowl tie-ins and should have at least five teams with seven or more wins. Teams with winning records are selected for bowls before 6-6 teams.

SMU's schedule was set up to help the Mustangs get to a bowl. Bennett said fans should expect a bowl. Athletic director Steve Orsini has agreed.

I wish they'd made a better decision last week. And against NTSU.

I would be more than glad to put the Skillet on the line. I am sure a one time exception could be made since:
a) The chances of TCu and SMU ever playing in a bowl against each other was never considered when the Skillet was created and
b)it was expected that we would play TCU every year for forever.

Since we will be playing TCU at their place and we have not played this year then I would expect the Skillet to be on the line.
