OT Kelvin Beachum Mexia Commits

Postby Stallion » Sun Jan 07, 2007 1:44 pm

the same DMN article said Kelvin Beachum Jr. 6-3, 265 committed. Not very much on the web about this guy other than All-District 19-3A as a Senior and Second Team All District 19-3A as a Junior. A poster on Smoaky.com claims he had 36 Pancake blocks and no sacks allowed as a Senior. If I'm spelling his name right I don't believe he is in either the Rivals or Scout Database. He seems to score in double figures in High School Basketball so maybe he's got some mobility.

TexasPrepXtra lists him at 6'4" and 270.

Played left tackle at Mexia.

Found a couple of pictures of this guy playing, which were kind of interesting. In both pictures, he is absolutely burying a guy (admittedly he's also a good deal bigger than both guys). But in both pictures, he also looks very lean, and he seems to have a really long reach. If he's athletic enough to be a real player on the basketball team, and lean enough that he can add a lot of weight, he might be one of those guys with major potential for growth. Welcome aboard, Kelvin!

Rivals confirms commitment but no stories yet. SMU listed no other schools of interest listed yet. Rated 2 stars 5.1
