Ashton Nixon

Has anybody heard where Ashton Nixon stands? I think this kid really help the team this year. He has some amazing athletic ability. From my report, he really worked hard this summer.

I've always liked his athleticism, but I wonder if he's caught in a numbers crunch. Bartel is obviously the starter, Wallis is #2 and it sounds like the coaches want to groom the freshmen. Surely Nixon isn't #5 on the depth chart - he's got good size, a really live arm and runs well. His one-year stint at WR didn't pan out, but he's a very good athlete. Maybe move him to safety? There's got to be a position where an athlete like that can contribute.

But he wants to play QB, right? Asked to move back from receiver?

I think if this guy is given a chance he could definitely compete for the #2 spot with Wallis. How has Wallis looked during two-a-days?

I've heard Wallis is stronger, and that his arm strength seems to have improved. But I haven't seen a practice in person yet, so this is hearsay.
