Ditto. I thought they should have been there. I understand that it may have been a big frat/sorority day, but I'm sure they could have worked something out with about 5 cheerleaders. Anything would have been better than nothing. I've been really disappointed by the cheerleader's commitment to basketball this year.

Cheerleaders, as a whole, are no longer spirit leaders on most college campuses. Gone are the days when a cheerleader could get a whole crowd worked up enough to turn the tide in favor of the home team. (as much as I hate Aggie$, they know how to do this!) Cheerleaders are now like another athletic team (gymnastics anyone?) who perform during football and basketball games. Cheerleaders have no commitment to spirit anymore. Frankly, I'd rather see a true S.M.U. fan take the lead and be the one who pumps up the crowd at the appropriate time and with the appropriate yells/cheers.

I think the SMU job might be beneath Lieberman, although she lives in Dallas, doesn't she?
If I wanted someone's job, I'd kiss up to that person's boss, too. And no, the SMU job is not "beneath" her -- she'd be luckier to have the job than the school would be to have her. She was a great player, but by all accounts an awful coach. Keep Coach Rompola and her staff -- they're excellent coaches, and they have assembled an outstanding young corp of talent for the future.
