Just received my SuperPrep "All-America" pre-signing issue. We have 1 recruit out of a total of 1,057 prospects that are evaluated in the magazine. That recruit is Patrick Fleming. SuperPrep rated Fleming #102 out of 102 prospects in the Southwest. BTW Tom Lemming's Prep Football Report pre-signing issue did not have any of our recruits listed and it had about the same number of prospects. I know we like Sleepers and it looks like we got our fill of them in this class. I hope they pan out!

hell we only offered about 4 of the Top 100(no commitments)-8 of the Texas 3 star recruits (Top 132)(1 commitment), 16 of the players ranked 5.4 or better (Texas Top 181)(2 commitments). as usual SMU is recruiting almost exclusively from the bottom half of the class But they will all be 5 stars on signing date. (Phil Bennett obviously doesn't believe in even bothering to ask the Prettiest Girls in the School to the Dance).
We're doing better than last year but probably somewhere like 8th-9th in CUSA. Thankfully we are kicking the crap out of two teams that just hired coaches two weeks ago. Tulane who suffered one the greatest natural disasters on the 20th and 21st Century and UAB who had their Coach picked by the Bear Bryant Jr. so they wouldn't hire the guy Saban might hire as their Offensive Coordinator at Alabama).
Probably outrecruiting Rice NOW that half their list has decommitted so Rice could hire a Division 1-AA Coach. Tulsa has 3 times more 3 stars than SMU but their class is only half baked because of the Coaching change. SMU committed 4-5 guys Tulsa offered. Tulsa, however, is doing much better in holding its recruits and agressively taking others. You know Graham is gonna go after about 4 of those SMU commitments who previously indicated interest in Tulsa but that SMU got in the weeks before Graham was hired by Tulsa.
UCF(including the only 4 star in CUSA), UTEP, UH, Marshall and Southern Miss seem to be pretty far in front of the others in CUSA. But really I would say UH is far far out in front when you start counting the Division 1A transfers who will be eligible next year. UTEP's class deserves a bump too because of Fred Rouse a 5 star Division 1A transfer and they also have a 4 star RB coming in from Oregon named Terrell Jackson and a RB from Arizona St named Adam Vincent.
Anyone who remembers what Boise State did to us with their TEs flexed out wide likely will agree that if nothing else, the BSU staff can identify TE candidates who can run and who can catch. Stick this guy in the weight room, feed him 10 times a day, and watch him grow. That Boise State offer is a ringing endorsement for this guy, as far as I'm concerned.
..................BOISE STATE does an incrediable job of finding Blue Chip players off of the Rivals 2 Star list. Anybody Boise is offering deserves a look. Their program is not just about excellent Coaching. They have found quality in players many BCS schools would not consider.

It is much cooler to say that you nailed the prom queen instead of the fat chick.

This thread has made everything so clear to me. I finally understand PB and the current state of SMU football. We all think Bennett is a nice guy for various reasons and I could never quite put my finger on why I liked him as a person but still can't support the crappy results he has gotten until now....
BENNETT IS THE ULTIMATE WINGMAN FOR CUSA COACHES. He doesn't ask the pretty girls to dance. He takes home the fat ones to add another notch on the belt (around 25 notches per year I might add). He dives on the gernade for everyone else in the league. He takes home the "ugly" recruits while everyone else gets the "hot" ones. Every guy has a friend like this and we all love him. Unfortunately the gernade smothering wingman is not the best route of success for recruiting college football players.
