NO HALFTIME RECEPTION LAST NIGHT

Postby regis » Thu Mar 01, 2007 6:00 pm

So, the jumbotron flashes a note with two minutes to go in the first half that there would be no Mustang Club Reception at halftime. There was no silver mustang award presentation or scoreboard dedication on the schedule. So what gives?

Am I the only one ticked that I didn't get a free coke and some crappy popcorn? Am I wrong to be ticked?

I guarantee they'll ask for a bump to my contribution when they call next week. Should I give more money for less benefits?

I agree how hard is it to set up popcorn, put out a bunch of cokes and open the doors.. I guarantee they will ask for $$ from you b/c i am on one of the teams trying to raise money..

It boggles my mind how SMU continues to screw up the little things..

I was more surprised to see a "Pay for View" All Access when I have already paid for the year. It said I could pay $9.95 and watch live or wait and see it on a delayed basis. I just do not understand. I guess they felt they had built the team up enough to get us to pay double to watch.

Starts with a $50 minimum membership level and goes up from there to however much you have/want to give.

Let's see. . . basically the entire Mustang Club staff is here in Tulsa meeting with current and prospective major donors. So, let's cut them some slack as you probably didn't need that popcorn anyway, right?

If it makes you feel any better, they will be headed back to Dallas on Friday.

That seems to be the big excuse for everything Wednesday night.

Everybody was heading to Tulsa. Mustang Club was too short staffed to open a door. Mustang Band was too short staffed to sound good. Cheers were too short staffed to cheer good. Poms were too short staffed to stay together on their dances. Basketball team was too short staffed (not because they were going to Tulsa) to play good.

Nevermind the fact that you have people paying money to come to your HOME game.

Part of being Top 25 is doing the little things that you tell people your going to do. One of the Club benefits is a Mens Basketball Halftime Reception. This is at least the 4th time this season that they have not come through on that.

If they can't do the little things, how can they expected to do the big things?

Steve Orsini was in the "crowd"... does he not have a key to open the door and unscrew the cap on a 2-liter bottle of coke? Of course, the guy sitting next to him was sucking up so intensely he probably couldn't get out of his seat.

Probably, but Bill Gates doesn't have time to do data entry at Microsoft, either.

If that were true, people would've gotten popcorn and soda.

OK, for the record, I'm a little guy too. I just happen to have taken vacation from my job to come to Tulsa to support the WBB team at the CUSA tournament. I would have liked to have a water bottle Wednesday night also, but knowing that the staff wasn't here - that wasn't going to happen.

You know, if we weren't 10th out of 12th in fund raising in CUSA, maybe we would have more staff in the Athletic Department so that there are people to cover when some go out of town. Anybody who can look at a staff directory knows that there are only so may people to go around.

Call me an apologist if you will, but I really don't care. I do what I can to help out and the fact that there was no water and popcorn on Wednesday night is not at the top of the list of things that I'm going to complain about.
