I hate to say it, but I know more TT fans going to the game than Ponyfans. The Metroplex is full of em. Add to that the state of their Program (Big-12 always in the mix, coming off the biggest bowl-comeback blah blah blah), AND people who will make the trip from Lubbock, and ALL points in between... Sigh. That's a lot of Techies.
Compare that to what we usually Bring.
This Program, by any objective measure, is still weak. They aren't going to get strong until they show it on the field. Maybe it's not fair to have to have the product before you can sell it, but them's the breaks. A home crowd isn't going to materialize out of nowhere and banish the TT fans.
The funny thing here, is that I think we can take Tech. I'm a total Polly, sure, but I think that this is a winnable game for us. But we're going to want every advantage we can cobble together. Having a Home field advantage is going to be important. Even if ther eare a ton of Techies in the stands, the Mustangs can keep them quiet with great play. That's something that the team can control to some extent. But adding a visual representation of the fan disparity just doesn't make sense.
I suppose Bergermeister doesn't think we'll be outnumbered. I hope he's right. I know I'm dragging a bunch of people out to the game.

I would try to do some kind of hand out promotion to get those attending to come back to another game. Whether it is a $-off coupon for tickets, free concession, 2 fer 1, whatever, there will be many people from Dallas attending who are not SMU students or alums and they need to have a reason to return. I really do not think there will be thousands from Lubbock but rather TT fans in the Metroplex who may want to return to a college game sometime even if it is not TT. Or maybe just college football lovers who come out due to the "lure" of a Big 12 team. We are the only Div 1 game in town and this is a way to reach some of that audience. We could even put a promo spot on the TV for discount to the next home game by going to SMUMustangs.com and entering a code number. We need to promote to the big crowd of people while they are watching our team.

We were putting people in the grassy south end-zone the last time they
wre here. I think it was 34000 + change attendance.
I think DeMyron Martin said we were expecting 40K for Tech during an
interview with Rich Phillips during the spring game. I think he's right with
lot's of beach towels, and squeezing in on the grass in the south end-
zone.
We need to wear our camou. That would be red to blend in with all the
other red on national TV. We knocked off nationally the ranked
Froggies in 2005, and should have a better than that chance at
knocking off the waders.

Why cater to what the opposing fans will be wearing? We wear what we want in our stadium, and if their fans wear the same color, just looks like more PonyFans. If Tech wants its fans to stand out, let them wear black or pink or teal or some other color. Our colors, in our stadium, belong to us. No need for Ponies or PonyFans to change.

I agree. Red at every game...no matter the opponent. I'm not going to change what I wear for Tech, Houston, or anybody else. Let the Techies wear black or red or whatever they want. I know what I'm wearing.

Think about that for a second, while I'm sure you are hoping all the coeds come naked what is more likely to happen is that a bunch of 300+ lbs heifers from Lubbock will show up naked, I don't particularly want to be subjected to that.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?

Back in the early 80's we might have been able to reverse this ratio (given the 32,000 maximum attendance) for Ford. You can thank Ken Pye for losing a generation or two of SMU fans. However, with management like Orsini and Sweet and coaches like Doh and Bennett on campus now, hopefully, new generations of SMU fans can be developed!
