Sounds like Dan (Mark's brother) McGuire. Remember that guy? The sack-proof quarterback when he came out of San Diego State?

Hey, lay off the players. Every one of them, starting or the last one on the depth chart, has been busting their butt day in and day out. They are here making the sacrifice and there are a lot more talkers out there that aren't. Everyone of them is doing the best with what they've got.

Re: Eidson He has been over 6' for three years now. The fact he is built like a red wood may have a visual impact on how tall he looks. Grant is the highest graded lineman EVER while at HP and attained that distinction while playing with a top five lineman in the country teamate his senior year. He is way more than capable. Taught by an uncle who started at SMU and a dad with a super bowl ring from the Cowboys gives him a strong background on how to do it right..

I am not expressing an opinion on Eidson, but I would say that it is less than ideal to have a true sophomore starting on the OLine. All college players can benefit from a redshirt year. Having said that, our line has been very porous for several years now. The individuals might all be solid, but for some reason as a unit they are not protecting the qb well enough. That much is obvious. By the way, looking forward to the Plano-Highland Park game tonight. Havent been to HP Stadium since our spring game there several years ago when Ford was being built.

How about prevailing on the HP coaches to turn in height and weight info to the DMN so that the on-line roster can be completed.
Or maybe just mail the DMN a copy of the program from the name tonight.

NO Quarter the HP coaches probably do not want to advertise height and weight this year as the opposing team may send their JV team instead. This season compared to previous years could be very ordinary..

HP fans get very defensive about their kids, that's for sure. I think Grant is a great kid and skilled lineman. But he can't compete with Big 12 competition--not with that size on the O-line. He's definitely over 6' though. I'm 6' exactly and he was taller than me as I recall.
No one's taking a shot at any of our players.. although some might come close. It's ALRIGHT to be frustrated with the o-line right now. It's very porous, and we still don't have the size, talent, or experience we need to protect Bartel or open up enough holes for KK.
With that said, it's not like we're going to get all that we want overnight or even in a couple games. Let this o-line gel and we'll have a scrappy little unit by year's end. It's going to be a few years still before we get a good cyle going.. we're going to have redshirt frosh on the line for at least another year, so get used to it. Bennett needs to keep bringing in linemen in every class and get both lines stacked deep. If Bennett is so intent on running the ball, then we at least need a solid o-line or our RB's are going to see some tough running ahead of them.

Sorry, not an excuse IMO.
The opposing teams know in a hurry if your DTs weighs 200 and the LBs 150, whatever the announced figures. I suppose they still print a program with weights?
Unfortunately, it looks like HP may be a year away, which was more or less what Randy Allen said after spring practice, according to the DMN.

Scattershooting while wondering- how the Coach with EASILY the best career record and the best and only winning record since the DP can run a program into the ground. The program has NEVER gotten off the ground in the first place.

I think it's a mistake to take Kieschnick out of the left guard spot. He had become a better-than-average LG, and he and Reindl built a nice tandem in the middle of the line. Throw Darrin Johnson out there at left tackle and let him learn. Bartel's a tough kid - he'll live through DJ's growth period. Johnson's going to be a star at left tackle, but the only way to accelerate the process is to get him out there and let him learn. He and Kieschnick should be playing side by side, in my opinion, not rotating with each other. They both need to be on the field.
