I was reminded of one worth a mention not in Dallas but on the way. The bad news was that my flight from Tyler to Dallas was cancelled. The good news was this required me to rent a car and drive to Dallas to catch my flight down to McAllen, which involved going through Canton, home of "Dairy Palace." Juicy burger however you want, best of course with double meat and cheese. My only complaint is that they prepare the burger as you order it, and as a result it's always hot and requires a slight wait before partaking.

Couple of things:
1) I did not pan thru all 56 pages to see if this burger was on the list.
2) I didn't believe it until I tried it.

My wife's grandfather swears by this burger. I always thought the old man was nuts for it, but I had it today and it was a great burger. One of the better ones I have had in awhile.

It tastes like the offspring if Jakes, kellers, and steak & shake mated.

Taco Diner. Try it, you won't regret it.

Damn -- wish I'd known about that place when I went through Canton a couple of weeks ago. Will remember next time I'm out that way.

Wow -- what a mental picture that description creates. Not sure if that should make me hungry or nauseous.

Nonetheless .... PF.com moderator I AM hit a place I've never heard of before yesterday called (seriously) the Twisted Root Burger Company. It's in Deep Ellum, although I forget what street it's on. Got to say, I was impressed.

Nice enough folks who give you a card with a character name (instead of a number) to tell you when your meal is ready. Seems to be a Simpsons-heavy environment, as we drew the name SEYMOUR SKINNER and someone else had APU .... although there also was a MARILYN MONROE shout-out over the microphone, too.

Good atmosphere, big TVs, home-made root beer (although it was out yesterday .... I AM swears it's good). Burger was a little overpriced, although that didn't bother me much since I AM was paying. Good size, very juicy, lots of flavor, and good cheese -- none of the melted plastic American cheese so many places are using now, presumably to save costs. In addition to some good (but slightly over-salted) fries, they served sweet potato chips. That was a first for me, but they were excellent.

If anyone ever goes to Deep Ellum anymore, I'd strongly recommend trying this place.

Made the trip west on I-30 Sunday to try out Pappas Burger in the old Tony Roma's building adjacent to Pappadeaux and Pappasitos at the Forest Park exit in Fort Worth. I will avoid tossing out countless adjectives here and just say the burger AND the chicken fried steak is UNequaled. Really nice place. A little pricey, but worth every penny. It is well worth the trip. Been open 2 weeks. :D

You've been there! Nope, I ordered the cheeseburger. One of the others in our party ordered the chicken fried steak and I can assure you he will be eating on it the rest of the week. I have never seen, nor will ever see, a bigger CFS... ever. HUGE. And very, very (very) good. :)

Wow! Something decent to eat at the over priced and over rated Taco Diner? I'll remember that the next time someone wants to go there and pay for my meal.

Bergermeister: Nope — never been. Just thought the idea of a burger and a CFS at one sitting was kind of revolting. But since I dig burgers as much as anyone, it sounds like a new place that needs to be tried!

Come on, BrianT — Taco Diner is pretty damn good. Over-priced, yes, but worthy of its reputation, I think.

Doesn't matter...they don't make burgers at either place...therefore not relevant. 8)

More like 'woof'! Ever wonder why you don't see stray dogs near a Chinese restaurant?
