Ticket Sales

Postby Stallion » Wed Aug 29, 2007 8:07 pm

two interesting posts on RaiderPower both based on reports from SMU today. The first quoted an unknown person in the Ticket office saying 75% of the tickets have been sold which I would guess would mean about 24,000 sold. Another report based on a quote from Assistant AD says that SMU expects a sellout. Anybody got a better estimate. SMU is fighting hunting season, a National TV audience and a late Monday game which makes it difficult for out of town fans to get back for school/work. I'll guess 30,000+ but maybe not a sellout.

30,000 sounds reasonable.

My guess: it'll be SRO. I hope that stadium is almost full of raider fans watching tech lose. And of course, us faithful fifteen thousand watching SMU win.

The more fans the better to help us with the games when we have a less than stellar attendance count

Reliable sources say that a sellout is expected, and it is a reasonable goal to set the new record at 35000.

We only wish that we had 15,000 faithful fans here in Dallas!

People were still lining up to buy tickets yesterday afternoon when I was over at Ford Stadium. And there are still tickets being sold on ebay.

Some Red Raider students that my oldest stepdaughter knows have decided to spend their $$$ dove hunting instead of spending it on the game. Good! That means fewer Tech fans in the stands.

Dove season not an issue - Sat and Sun will protect the countyside from those dangerous attack birds, and then easily make it back for the boulevard/game.

I snagged an extra ticket down in the lower bowl, eastside (Sec 108 row 5) last night and everyone one else was getting them in nose blled. maybe they released some season ticket holds? If so, I hope ponyfans get the, rather than tech fans. they seem to be good seats considering how late they were pruchased.

Monday game. . .

Postby Squier05 » Thu Aug 30, 2007 10:18 am

I think having it on Monday makes it possible for more people to come to the game, at least from the hunting crowd. Our whole crew is leaving for the ranch tomorrow afternoon and spending Saturday and Sunday defending the fields, then coming back to be at the BLVD/Game on Monday.

I hate to say it, but if the game was on Satuday, I probably wouldn't make it. I have loved the ponies for about 10 years, but I haven't missed opening day since I was a little kid.

PONY UP!!!!

There are some free tickets out there — students, university officials, etc. — but let's say that all 35,000 are sold. Is it true that ALL tickets for this game are priced at $47?

That comes to $1,645,000 for the athletic department in a single afternoon.

Knock off the freebies, and it drops to what, $1.2 million? Pretty nice afternoon for athletic business major domo Kris Lowe.
I really shouldn't drink and type.

Here's betting even with an announced sellout that the visitor's South top corner will be empty. It sat empty for the sold-out stadium opener vs. Kansas.

Win a few games, fill the stands!

What a bunch of crap for non-believers. I am driving from Houston to Uvalde to go dove hunting for the weekend. Then leaving on Sunday afternoon to drive to Big D. Watch the game Monday and then drive back to Houston after the game for work Tuesday. Anyone who really wants to be there will be there. Pony UP!

I'm driving up from Houston too, and have friends that are leaving Dallas to hunt and coming back Sunday for the game on Monday, but you have got to remember some fans aren't as hardcore or dedicated as former players such as yourself.
