so how does that work? Students will have to enter the stadium to receive their tickets? Is this designed to get the students in their seats by gametime or what is the purpose? It might have jjust the opposite effect.

What do you mean by "released more faculty/staff/student seats". Are they just assuming that they won't be showing up for the game and selling their tickets. It could look almost as bad on TV if they pan over the crowd and there is the student section only 1/2 full.

I do not think it will be bad. If I recall, my freshman year we never "got tickets", we just went to a designated gate and showed our ID card. I could be wrong since it has been over 257 years, but if all you have to do is walk and flash, a young person should be able to handle it.

I doubt that the viewers on TV will know it is the student section unless they are very familiar with SMU "tradition" and in that case they will be pleasantly surprised if it is half full.

this is from SMUMUSTANGS.Com. Guess the party-boys on the Boulevard may get left out:

FACULTY/STAFF TICKETS

Football

Faculty/Staff get into the game for free by showing their Faculty or Staff ID at Gate 6. Faculty/Staff can get up to two (2) admissions...one for themselves and one for a guest.
Students and faculty/staff can park in Moody and/or Airline Parking Garages, simply by showing their parking pass at the gate.
Ticket Box Office opens 3 hours prior to kickoff.
Gates open 1 ½ hours prior to game time.

STUDENT TICKETS

Football

Students receive ADMISSION to football games ON THE DAY OF THE GAME by:
showing their Student ID at Gate 6. Students are encouraged to get to the game early, as seats are first come, first served and space is limited.
Students will need to relocate their cars by the morning of the game at 6am to one of the student lots.
Students and faculty/staff can park in Moody and/or Airline Parking Garages, simply by showing their parking pass at the gate.
Ticket Box Office opens 3 hours prior to kickoff.
Gates open 1 ½ hours prior to game time.

I was told it was to try and get the students in earlier, and....so they couldn't sell their tickets.

It's funny. I just went on your athletics webpage and attempted to buy 8 tickets together...and it told me I could.

SRO? For an SMU game?

Maybe it's because you're the fuzz. Kinda like those free donuts everywhere or that free bitchin' 7-11 coffee. That has to be a great deal for you especially, getting free java and seeing old NTSU classmates at the same time, huh?

But PB said it was a 'sell out' on The Ticket the other day! Or...maybe he's forgotten more about selling tickets than the rest of us will ever know.

I wonder how many student tickets will be available. Why not have a student pull the week of the game and then require students to show their ID at the gate so they can't sell them? That way students know in advance if they're going to get tickets or not.

Also, what's the likelihood that the game goes to SRO tickets like two (or so) years ago? I believe SRO tickets were $8 at that time but could be $15 or so this time. Just don't attempt to do fireworks again, like the Navy game when the hill caught on fire.
