Arkansas State beat Army and Army almost beat A&M. They went to a bowl last year. We already lost to North Texas and all we have is a victory over a lousy I-AA team.

Oh, wait. That was last year. I am sorry. I was confused for a moment.

Lest we forget, many were in panic mode before we played this team last year.

This is the same coach, same qb (well, for part of the game), same starting tailback as last year.

Let's play the freakin' game.

Arky state hung in there with Texas, and should have had a chance to win at the end of the game...TCU hung with UT for a half but got beat...so if we can beat Ark State, theres a chance we can beat TCU...

That's the type of logic that gives many a false sense of security.

Yes i know...cant look ahead because TCU isnt this week, its Ark State. Yes its on the road but the Offense showed production yesterday and should produce next saturday, its the Defense that gives me a false sense of security

therefore by the laws of transitivty, if we beat with Ark State we can also hang with Texas.

Texas was obviously flat when they played ASU. Forget scores as alot of it has to do with how different teams " match up " against each other. I don't know much about Arkansas State this year as I did not see their game with Texas but I heard they are more of a running team. Hopefully, they are not that good a passing team because we cetainly have not matched up well against anyone's passing game so for. Maybe we can stop the run better.

Road kill

The problem with playing ASU is that with PB, the ponies are road kill. That's the matchup problem that matters.

Very true! What's the matchup and how does it play to SMU's weaknesses and/or strengths?

From the top level, Arkie State is a running team so our #16 ranked run defense should do pretty well against them. Nevermind that our run defense is only because teams have had so much success through the air.

Corey Leonard went 6-14 for 110 yrds and a TD last year against us. He finished last year with 1131 yrds and 8 tds / 8 INTs.

Against UT he went 23 of 36 for 259 yrds and an INT.

Arkie State ran for 125 yrds against UT in week one...

Overall the team was really young last year and is maturing (sound familiar?) We are going to be in for a dog fight...but I think we should be able to pull it off.

UT expected a power running team but Ark St. actually ran a spread formation all game on offense. Apparently Ark. St.'s o-line got very good push against the UT d-line and were much more effective running the ball than TCU was against UT.

I really don't know what to make of this game other than I'd like for it to fall to a pick'em so I can bet on Ark St. Ark St. wins, I can drown my sorrows with money from my winnings. SMU wins and I feel like I'm buying wins and a part of the glory days. Its a win-win either way really. :D

Sounds like any game PB has prepared a team for- no idea what to expect.

We passed a lot but we were in a two TE set a lot of the game with one receiver to each side and a single back.
