SMU Women’s Basketball Announces 2007-08 Schedule

Sept. 13, 2007

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women’s basketball team released its 2007-08 schedule Thursday, a slate that includes 16 games against Conference USA foes and 13 games against non-conference opponents. The schedule includes 17 appearances – including two exhibition games – at SMU’s Moody Coliseum, and culminates with the Conference USA Women’s Basketball Championship in Orlando, Fla., March 6-9.

“This is always a time of great anticipation for us, especially when we put together a schedule as attractive as this one,â€

What the hell is "Lake Truck Lines" and since when does it have a women's basketball team?

Sounds like a very rough, tough exhibition opponent.

Good luck, Ponies!

You would have thought they would play Mrs. Paul Quinn so the Quinns could have saved travel expenses.

Mrs. Quinn is in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant. Paul has a handle on his home scene.

Texas Tech is usually a really good team, right?
Got to believe they have that date circled on their calendar.
I was there last year, and we played out of our minds in the win over Tech. Do it again!

What an ignorant comment. Rhonda has a more experienced team with seniors and her stellar recruiting class from two years ago is a year older. That's why the schedule is more challenging.

Matt has a younger squad and wants those freshman to learn to play together. I'd rather do it with a schedule and get some wins, then to get your heads kicked in non-conference. I would think you'll see a tougher schedule in 2008-09.

Might want to look at the two rosters, buddy!

In a story from last season, here's a little info about the Lake Truck women's exhibition basketball team...this is from the Maryland Terrapins website:

In their only exhibition game, the Terps host the Lake Truck Travel Team - a group of former collegiate players that travels to play against different schools in the preseason. Lake Truck has beaten Houston and Duquesne, but lost to Oklahoma last night.

The Lake Truck team features a number of players who played sparingly in the WNBA, like Nikki Blue of UCLA, who has been its top player this year. Terps transfer guard Sa'de Wiley-Gatewood's former teammate at Tennessee, Brittany Jackson, is also on the squad. They are coached by Houston Comets assistant coach Kevin Cook.

Deedee Warley, who played for the Terps from 1998-2001, and was drafted by the New York Liberty in 2002, will make her return to College Park as part of the travel team.

They'll Pony up when Matt thinks they're ready. Right now, they're not ready.

When will ANY Mustang team be ready? I'm tired of waiting. I really am.

That's what the die-hard fan does. You hang in there through it all. You don't why, but you do. Because if you left...well, I guess you did for awhile...you'd never forgive yourself if they ever did something good. So you keep coming back.

Ask the Cubs fans and Red Sox fans (before 2004) why they endured so much hell but kept coming back.

It takes a certain kind of courage to be a SMU fan. But I'll keep following them and supporting them year after year. I owe that school a lot.
