Brandt was awful. Meadows stagnated under her, she ran off Ted Pillsbury, and she cost us untold millions in donations from various donors including the namesake. Niemi has not improved Cox since he arrived. The rankings of Cox have stayed relatively the same or gone down in the case of the EMBA program - this in spite of the improved quality of the incoming students, we have lost several well regarded professors which we haven't replaced with the same or better quality, and Cox still does not have a marquee field of study such as UT's highly regarded accounting program.

Met Niemi out in CA at one of their "world tours". He seemed alright...I knew Dean Blake's wife, Mary Sarver, pretty well. Niemi seemed more upbeat the Dean Blake. Didn't realize Brandt wasn't any good either. I think that no matter who holds that particular deanship, they wind up fighting a Dilbert-rated battle between the Foundation and SMU's admin. The angriest I had ever seen Pye was at the Meadows dean during his tenure (can't recall his name) b/c the guy was futzing with the school accounting so he could maximize the use of SMU money while retaining foundation money as "extra".

So did Copeland make any hires that improved any sports? Why do we have all this extra money this year vs. the year we had to cut Men's Track?
Where was Turner when Men's Track was cut? Obviously the money was there - we have it now!

I was reading a Faculty Senate Report from earlier this year that said the Athletic Department deficit had exploded to over $5 Million a year and apparently Orsini reported that the books he was shown prior to accepting the job or soon thereafter did not match the reality. For what its worth. You can access the Faculty Senate's Reports online so this should be accurate. Really not too surprising considering the schedule we played last year and the attendance in both FB and BB.

So Stallion, what is your opinion on Turner? Everyone always says he is so pro-athletics, but nobody can ever give me an example of anything he has done to truly help athletics. Football seems to have gone downhill steadily during his tenure. BBall hasn't improved. Track has been cut.
Before Orsini, it seems the only thing positive for athletics was the building of Ford Stadium, which is contend is really minor. I'd much rather watch winning football in the Cotton Bowl than lose in Ford.

I believe you are referring to Eugene Bonelli.

We should be able to schedule better games than we do. Basketball is talking big for this season but we arent playing anyone non-conf besides tcu I think....
Regardless, investing now in these programs can turn it all around from a financial aspect, but it starts with winning!

Doing fine, he seems to have stopped eating things that get lodged in his intestines so we haven't had to take him to the vet in a while...thank goodness.

Oscar is quite well. Last I saw, he was taking a trip down to Austin to hang out over at Mack Brown's office. Something about BCS opportunity going down the drain this weekend.
