Look for leadership, charisma, experience, connections in the business, recruiting, ability to relate to and sell 18-21 years and alumni, ability to organize and delegate and then maybe his ability to coordinate one side of the ball. It is the most overrated mistake fans assume by thinking a head coach will x and o a program back to success. More likely it will be through building a solid foundation and through quality coordinators.
This is the best post you have ever made. I agree whole-heartedly.
Delegate, delegate delegate. Hopefully to coaches that know what they are doing. Spend a lot of time in the kids living room talking to parents.

Yes, Stallion is exactly right. Unfortunately, success at their current position is all we have to go on.

Since the blog was started in January, I think it is supposed to be a joke.
As you know, any idiot can have a blog.

Please do not hire a coordinator. Hire a head coach (with 1-A experience).

Look at it this way.
In today's college/pro athletic enviroment, your head coach is the CEO of your program. And the fans are all stockholders in the company. Every Saturday, we meet to discuss how the business is going.

Actually the Pres and/or the Board of Regents, and the AD are the shareholders. We fans are merely the consumers. We meet on Saturdays to buy the product....or not.

But since you and I are in the Mustang Club, it kind of goes beyond that.
I think we can agree, though, that this program is in the midst of a hostile takeover and the CEO is on his way out.

I think you have finally done it!!!! I am buying into the Stallion Philosophy and begrudingly like your thinking.
I would think we would want some one that will stick around for quite some time and really work to build the program and show an improvement all around. Not just a few tricks to get 2-3 more wins for a few seasons and then walk away.
