Perhaps the article makes him look stupid, but in context, his comments were right on. He was specifically refering to SMU first down, 5 minutes left in regulation. The O-Line was essentially asked to win the game then and there. 3 straight Mapps Runs for 8 total yards. Every player should want the responsibility when the game is on the line, and felt that Ben and the O-line were given that responsibility and were upset with how they handled it. No matter how awesome thier overall performance was, they came up short when it mattered most.

You and Ben must understand that know game is won or lost in the last few minutes. That comment was for the fans who know [deleted]!

lol, know game indeed.

And a lot of games are won or lost in the last minutes. I'm not sure which you know less about, English or Football.

That is the only response you have? Typical! Please make a choice, football or grammer. Is there a board to discuss grammer? WWW.kissmyass.com!

I was pretty clear that you're clueless about football as well. I guess I'll add reading comprehension to the list of things your just not very good at.

Whether he feels the defense was great or horrible doesn't matter - you don't come out and trash teammates in the media. Ben Poynter is extremely bright (already has his degree) and is as high-character a guy as there is. I'm certain there were plenty of players who didn't want to talk, but I also bet there were some athletic PR guys who hand-pick who speaks and who doesn't. Poynter is one of those guys who you know will represent the team and the university with dignity and class whether the team wins or loses. These quotes get read by recruits and their parents, too, and high school coaches, so you can't have players coming out and saying "I did my job but the other guys didn't." If that's how they feel, they can talk about it at practice or in the locker room. I hope Ben Poynter stays around as an alum for a long time as an example of the kind of man and kind of player all Mustangs should aspire to be.

He trashed his own offensive line for what they could not do in overtime? Ben is a great guy and does a great job at what he does. That is not in question. Nobopdy should have talked to the media. What was there to say? What needs to happens is a gag order for all the players until we put together SOME wins. This is serious [deleted] people for some player, and for some it is just to say, I play for SMU, which means nothing to the football world.
