OK Herkie Herkimer-do a little cheer. When it comes down to it-SMU fans don't give a rats ass-they won't even show up to support the team. UTs fans care because they are having trouble keeping enough players eligible to field a nationally competitive team but that's the extent of their concern. They will continue to flood into Memorial Stadium in record numbers nonetheless.
this is what stallion says---"UT across the board is a better university than SMU in almost every aspect of the school."
crap like this is why 98% of smu fans on this board can't stand your longhorn loving butt. you bend over backwards at any chance to berate smu, and lift up any other school, especially your love interest horns. you are a buttplug.
Stallion I have great respect for your knowledge of SMU football/recruiting/models/ect and that you have attended every home game for years. But honestly Stallion do you wish you were a UT grad instead of an SMU grad? I just do not understand your need to seemingly always degrade SMU as a university, SMU sports, SMU fans, the SMU Mustang Club, SMU message board posters, and just a general first impluse to degrade SMU, but a first impluse or a rush to defend Texas and their lousy football grad rates and criminal behaviors of their football team. It's all over the Dallas Morning news, it's not all sour grapes as I think you percieve. We are discusssing whats in the headlines. And sometimes I wonder when and if SMU turns a corner and wins 7-9 games a year if you won't be happy for a moment or just keep complaining, being negative, and shouting "well we aren't as good as Texas".
C-ya @ Milos!
Sorry, then maybe some better sentence structure would help because the way that sentence reads, those appear to be 3 different assertions. I see what you meant now, but only after a paragraph of explanation. BTW, I can see how you could support two of those assertions (graduation rates and arrests), but how do you know the SMu football team is more academically superior to UT's? I'm more curious than anything. I know there are some stellar students on both teams, just wondering on what basis you are making that assertion. ![]() Official Cult of Chris Phillips Member
If I had known the morons at this school were going to turn this program into a Sun Belt Conference level program and would seemingly be perfectly content to be just about the only Division 1A school in the country w/o a Bowl or Championship in 20 years you are damn right I probably would have gone somewhere else. I'd bet many SMU alums would have too if they realized SMU was going to become an after thought in Texas. If the Kenneth Pye philosophy had continued I can tell I definitely would not have gone to SMU.
why are you the messenger? you (for some reason?) started this thread. i guess you rag on your children, if the kids next door excel at something? time to tell the truth, on why you have such a burning passion for the horns? seriously, you love to talk so much, let us know.
facts or no facts, which team do you support verbally? if a visitor to our board read your post, he would think that you are a horn fan or just a Mustang hater.

ok 68 maybe I could have put a comma after "arrests" and it would have been clearer. thats the problem with these message boards, intent and emotion are often misunderstood. BTW, I can see how you could support two of those assertions (graduation rates and arrests), but how do you know the SMU football team is more academically superior to UT's? I'm more curious than anything. I know there are some stellar students on both teams, just wondering on what basis you are making that assertion. 68 I am sure there are some top notch student athletes on the UT football team. In fact I would think Texas has academic all-america football players almost every year. But when you look at the teams as a whole I just think that many of the players that Texas allows to play could not get into SMU and/or pass the course work at SMU. Can I without a shadow of a doubt prove that? Well obviously not, because I do not have access to their report cards, SAT scores, and type of courses they are taking. I just don't think these guys getting arrested for drugs/guns/robbery/burglary would have a chance passing the course load at SMU. Can I prove it?... Again, no, but I think it's a logical assumption....don't you? But looking at graduation rates even with the NFL factor (which by the way....the vast majority of UT players are not drafted and never play in the NFL) and looking at SAT requirements at SMU I think it is a very safe assumption that SMU football players are indeed on a different scale as far as course requirements, type of courses, SAT Scores, and graduation rates from the UT football players as whole. I would think UT has a significantly larger "lower end group" than does SMU. I bet the "low end" SMU football players academic wise would not even be "the low end" on the Texas football team. Agreed? So 68 is Texas going to beat Tech & A&M? C-ya @ Milos!
Next year at homecoming let's see if we can line up
the Texas Longhorns for a spelling test. Is Texas coming to town for our Homecoming? jt how about a sobriety test? C-ya @ Milos!
The record of the football team had very little bearing on my decision to attend SMU. I would think almost everyone would agree with that (except for big Stal apparently).
GO MUSTANGS!
FIGHT ON!
I certainly would not expect to pass it.
I think the whole SWC mystique did attract me to SMU in part. The women in the other part. The fact that it was a small private school that played big time college football was big part of the equation. To have games every year against UT, A&M and Arkansas was something to look forward to.
