What is the real deal? OLine, receivers? He looks like he has regressed to Junior Varsity. I thought he had some pretty good progress last year. His only play is tuck and run.

I was going to say something similar unitl i realized that many of those plays we saw were CALLED for Willis to do something. Obviously the coaching staff is aware their nuts are pretty much gone. So they just pull a "grand prairie Kerry Woods" and toss our best player in the woods and pray he makes something happen.

Prediction: Willis will be 'questionable' for the Tulane game after that hit he took tonight.

Good enough arm , can usually hold the ball if its a planned run but to marginal numbers if he has to come out of the pocket. The o-line has made progress but still not there. Any boby can pass if they have time. He should not be our leading rusher. Neeeed new o-cord bad. Hopefully next coach will get one or be former O-coordinator. Sill pulling for team . But 1 more loss and its over for this year. Should win at home Tulane then ??????????

He has become a sandlot quarterback. Maybe the new coach will bring a quarterback... I don't know if this one can be "rehabilitated"... not his fault... he has been allowed to freelance because discipline is not a part of the offensive scheme... (not sure what the scheme is, though). This has gotten ugly.

Actually he is trying to find his deck chair!

It obvious that slamming the door on his hand has really affectced his throws. But his reads are another thing altogether-bring on Braden Smith!

I predicted he'd have a sophomore slump. He'll play better next year when he learns the new system.

I disagree. He has been our best offensive player this year, and at times it has looked almost as if he has been our only offensive player. He's trying to win games by himself. I have defended the coaching as long as I possibly can, citing good defense by the opposition, bad luck, bad refs, bad karma - whatever - but the playcalling has crushed this offense. There are a lot of teams out there that could make good use of guys like Justin Willis, DeMyron Martin, Emmanuel Sanders, etc. We're just not doing it. But Willis has played his heart out. As frustrating as this season has been, I don't point the blame at him. If he's gone totally sandlot on us, it's because he has had to to stay alive - teams know he's our best offensive weapon and they build their defensive gameplans around stopping him. He didn't throw 26 touchdowns last year by accident. He can play, and he'll end up owning most - if not all - of the passing records in SMU history.

I never said he wasn't trying, just that the results, including his stats, suggest a second year drop-off.

I wrote about this after the TCU game about how much he's regressed. Are you people suffering from short-term memory loss?

I dont think he is the best offensive player at all! He probably makes the most mistakes outside of the oline and what the heck was that int pass into the endzone all about, that was terrible! Mapps continues to have good games and nobodies mentioning him. If they would stop falling behind teams so early by so much maybe we would all get to see him turn into something great.
