There may be nothing to this, but did anyone else think it was odd that DMN reported that Orsini was out of town and not available for comment? AD's typically don't leave town for home games. If this was already discussed, sorry.

I believe he was at his alma mater, Notre Dame, to help celebrate the 30th reunion of their 1977 national championship team, on which he was a player.

Doherty skipped his reunion at UNC last year.

It's a little harder for the Coach to miss a game dont you think?

Don't know.
Doherty's team won the Nat'l title too. Plus Doherty was a starter.
Orsini should have been at our game.

At this point, Orsini doesn't need to be at our game or a reunion.
He should be working on the next hire.

Maybe the fact that Doherty was canned by UNC had something to do with his decision no tto go, as well as the fact that he was actively coaching SMU at the time.
If you don't recognize the differences in the game day responsibilities of the AD and a head coach, you have frickin' issues, man.

I thought I saw him on ESPN! Wearing his green jersey and whooping it up at the pep rally. I was sure I was mistaken as he would have been here to watch this team at a crucial point in the season.
Maybe that means he's seen enough, given up on this season already, and has made the decision.

How did you know, oh Great One?
I understand Doherty very much would have liked to have attended his reunion.

Orsini was right in not going to the SMU game, but wrong in going to the Notre Dame game. He should have gone to the UCF game the only school he has ties to that is "playing football".

SMU had a basketball game the Night of the UNC Game. Who cares if an AD misses a game-a little bit different situation for a Coach.

We are arguing over something that is senseless. If some of you think that Orsini's absence is going to impact how he goes about hiring his new coach, you're flat out stupid.
I would submit to you that a lot of background and due diligence work has been done long in advance of the Tulane game. The process to replace Bennett started long ago.

Yeah, Misery loves company and if we have to sit through this garbage of a program then so does he.

I understand that he has no impact on our team's performance during the game, and he doesn't need to be there at every game.
I would LIKE him to be there though, to see the stadium 1/3 full. I would LIKE him to see the student section empty out after halftime. I would LIKE him to see the results of a huge marketing push without any improvement on the field backing it up. I would LIKE him to stand in a concession line for 20 minutes only to be told they can't run his credit card or they ran out of sodas in the second quarter.
If he has someone reporting these things to him and he has a plan to address them, then he doesn't need to be here. I hope that is the case.

I think he has been to at least one game.
