I would think, that Orsini already has his man or at least a very short list at this point given the timing of his decision. Do you think an announcement will be made this week, in a few weeks, after the season??
well then it will have to be Coach without a job-not saying it won't happen but they aren't going to be able to contact head Coaches with jobs until the end of the season. I will say one thing-SMU is in DESPERATE need of LBs-JUCO signing date is the first week in December.

Good point Stallion. I had a brain freeze from the 7-11 Spurpee I just got.

He can't wait too long to keep from losing too much in recruiting this year.
Could be wrong, but seems like juco signing day is December 19th. It is critical we get a coach on board quickly, to increase our chance to get some juco help at offensive tackle and linebacker.
I think Orsini makes the announcement in about 10 days. That will put it just ahead of Homecoming and the new coach gets to shake some hands and raise a little more interest from fans who this might be the only game they come to this year. This also gives the new coach some time to get some JUCO's signed and not fall too far behind in the recruiting race. Additionally, the players now know who is "looking over their shoulders" at their performances as they start looking forward to next year....
Does not SMU have to post the opening for a certain amount of days just like any other job opening at the University? Not sure how long that time frame is, but I would think they can't just go out and hire some one as soon as they say yes...or at least you don't announce it until the posting time frame has expired. Maybe as a private university they are not required to do this. Anyone know the answer?
