Orsini's quote on new HC's salary

Post by Butts in the Stands »

Orsini said he knows that aiming high means SMU will probably have to be willing to pay for it. Bennett earned about $500,000 annually.

"I think you get what you pay for in life," Orsini said. "We're willing to pay fair market value for the qualifications of the right coach. If SMU is committed to do something, they're going to do it right. I have that commitment going forward from SMU and their supporters."

Orsini said funding for the next coach will come separately from SMU's operating budget and that he will be working on raising the needed funds while searching for the new coach.

Orsini hinted at the answer to the question that will dictate what sort of HC we can afford. Time to PonyUp ponyfans!

does anyone know what coaches get paid who are consistently ranked top 25? I only bring this up because Orsini's model of being top 25 in everything should fall under this as well. It would be a good way to judge what the market value of this caliber of coach would cost (give or take a bit).

Not sure, someone posted an interesting article recently about the perks they get, though. Use of private jets, luxury sweets, revenue sharing, etc.

If you posted and read this, please repost. THanks!
