But '03 didn't have a catchy theme song.
This is true! Which is part of why '07 can never be as bad as '03!
Haha, though it does make this season all the more bittersweet.

You're an idiot. The winless/clueless season 03 team couldn't score with a gun up their [deleted].
This team, on the other hand, went down to the wire leading in 4 cusa losses.
Losing, like winning, can become a habit. SMU FB has to learn how to win.

This season is worse - in '03 we clearly had no chance to win. How can you get too angry with players so outmatched that they have no chance to win? It's like getting angry at a cripple for walking too slow.
This season, however, has shown that while the team is truly horrible, we COULD have won at least a couple of these games.

I don't know. Somehow, I may be jaded.... but this season has been like, okay more of the same... whatver.
I know, U know, I know... it hurt a lot worse at the beginning because of the promise of this team... but at this point, I am blasé about it (which in itself may be worse.... as I noted during the game thread, I actually took the time to post on the meaningless [deleted] thread)... but going winless is disgusting, a truly hollow feeling.

Thats what I am wondering..
Because he is a proven commodity at a high level. He was a National Coach of the Year. He recruited the team at NC that won a national championship. He is a big reason for all of the building improvements in the basketball program. In a word, he inspires confidence.
There are never any guarantees, but his pedigree would suggest otherwise.
The typical coaches we have hired in our basketball past are: Long-time assistant who promises to bring us Dallas recruits, because of his outstanding contacts (Tubbs). Successful smaller college coach (Dement).
How did those work out? Do you want to return to those type hires?

I agree with you Carolina. Doh was a quality hire and we were VERY lucky to get him given our ongoing lack of support for these programs. As you say, he has gotten the big money to start putting it up with the building of the Crum center and other improvements that have taken place and will soon take place at Moody. He came in to late his first year to have an affect on recruiting with only Cameron Spencer to show for it. From a Rival's standpoint, last year's recruiting class looks good, but only time will tell. He didn't have any 4 star or JUCO recruits in that class that could make an IMMEDIATE impact, but the first 3 games have shown me that they have some potential. This year's class has a couple of unknowns and 1 recruit that appears to be a real player though Rivals only rates him 3 stars right now. Yes attendance will suffer this year because these kids will take time to adjust to the college game, but I believe that they will get better just like they did in second half of last night's game which we won 47-40. Unfortunately we were down about 29 points at the half, which is why we lost the game!
