I wish they would shut down this message board until a new coach is hired.

I have dropped some hints, and some have picked up on them, given their knowledge of SMU football. I can't say, but I will say, you will be very happy, and if you are not, you never will be.
With all the pictures of USC's Pete Carroll, I wonder if it is John Robinson, USC's ex-head coach twice?

Trust him, you will be happy.... but I am still wondering what 'panites' are?

So I am posting this to let you know that I know who the coach is but can't tell you. Because I told the person I would not post anything. So this post is technically void. So ignore this post because I can't say anything even though I know something. I am very excited even though I can't say anything. Does this make sense?
Dude, a person with some credibility posts to let you know that he knows who the next coach will be, but that he can't tell you. The value you should derive from the discussion lies in (1) excitement and (2) comfort. It's not a worthless discussion. Sit back and be happy for the next week about the direction of our program. There appears to be some good hope for it after all. These guys would have a lot of people pissed off at them if we end up hiring some spare like Todd Christensen next week. If they're wrong, someone loses come credibility and we will just continue on like we have for the last 20 years. Nothing lost. If they're right, we should all buy Dwan a drink and kiss Orsini's @ss.

If I had to guess...given the criteria is BCS coach with WOW factor that the alumni are unhappy with....
I would say Tommy Bowden.
Dwan seems more confident tonight with the choice SMU is about to make...could it be because Clemson lost at home to BC...assuring the Eagles the ACC Championship Game and continuing Clemson's drought as ACC Champs?

Well said. I understand not wanting to betray someone's confidence. Dwan, though he promised not to tell, at least is telling us we'll be happy.
The fact that he doesn't tell everything he knows is one reason the information was shared to him in the first place.
As far as all the speculation over the last three weeks, it has been great. Like many others have posted, let's remember who we were left to ponder when the job came open with Copeland in charge.
Reading the posts by Dwan and Thad, I confess to getting a good chill when Thad relayed the conversation about the hire with the guy in the airport. "It would have been perfect." Now it will be!

Hopefully it will be a week from this Monday so we can get the new coach on the recruiting trail fast. If it is a done deal as Sunshine and Dwan have intimated, then he is currently getting his staff assembled so they can hit the ground running when the announcement is made!

For whatever reason, I've heard that there is some dissatisfaction with Tommy so it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is ready to make a change.
