I think it's been blue for the past 20 years. Hopefully, we'll get to change that.

Two of the worst ideas in the history of our once storied program.

Just how sad is third down thunder. It's beyond sad.

And no hope to get rid of it. It's sad to think how much we're made fun of for that and of course our team that masquerades as a D-1 program.

Just how sad is third down thunder. It's beyond sad.

It doesn't matter who is name the next coach. That will not be a "wow" moment for me. Imagine the wow factor of naming a new coach. All the curious and sunshiners will show up early in the season. And we still can't stop a simple slant route. We still average 90+ yards of penalties a game. And we still turn the ball over about every third possession. Then where will be the wow?

All the wow in the world doesn't win.

For me, the wow moment will be when we blitz, the other team throws a quick slant and our DB knocks the receivers jock into the third row. The receiver gets up to all fours, then slowly gets one leg up. About that time a lineman comes over and helps him upright. The receiver then weakly holds his hand up and slowly walks/jogs off the field. At that point, when we not only proved we can defend the slant but put the fear of the slant into the opponents receivers, it will be a wow moment.

Are fans important? Yes. Is fan anticipation and backing important? No doubt about it. Is a big name coach with a Bennett/Cane like record any better than we currently have? No.

Is a football team that doesn't make stupid mistakes, makes a fourth and one up the middle, stops a drive on the goal-line exciting? You bet. So the name doesn't matter as much as the results for me. Hire a hell of a coach and the record will attract fans. Don't hire a coach just so we can see if Stallion ponies up for the Mustang Club or the rest of us get all giddy.

for all those worried about Paul Johnson coming to install the option, don't worry he ain't coming.

why would he leave a great job at USNA paying him $1.5 million plus a season and where he is seen as a "God"? the Navy fans even printed shirts saying "keep your hands off our Johnson"

btw, if he did come he would promptly turn this team around. PJ is a winner - he has won two D-II championships, national coach of the year multiple times and turned an absymal Navy team into a team that will pretty much get 8 wins a year and is a lock for bowl games.

he would be a much better alternative to some re-tread coach with some "star power" name....

with PJ, there is no one better at maximizing the intangibles and "doing more with less"....

There are a lot of good things about PJ but you're correct he is very unlikely to leave Annapolis. He's very content there.
