Remember, Gary was considered a strong choice when R.C. was let go. Wasn't he close and then turned it down?

The story reads like they really wanted Tuberville but the $$ really got in the way.

This is one of the worst hires in the History of Mankind. Obviously the Coach 'em up if we could only find a Coach who could motivate the Boys contingent made this hire. He will fall flat on his face. Maybe a year or two he'll call the right numbers then its Charlie Weis all over again.
