Are you guys still excited about the new hire? You seemed the most enthusiatic.

You left out Sunshine Pony! We still haven't heard from any of them. What about it Sunshine? Do we get a new coach tomorrow?

I was only excited about the name that Dwan was referring to - which at this time I feel I can freely report is/was Butch Davis.

I thought it was way out of left field but I thought, wow, Dwan comes on here with (normally? always?) true stuff.... I looked back and he's never (seemed to have never) been misinformed.

Howeva', ergo, heretofore.... whateva' ...... I don't know anything. I'm going to drink heavily. Or more rightly, go to sleep and dream of drinking heavily this weekend.

Yes, dwan has credibility issues now and biggin...well, I'm starting to believe him about the interest in this job. If these coaches are jumping to new places so quickly, the month it has taken us (with very little of substance reported during that time) makes me think this job is going to someone who was not a top choice.

Man, this sucks...I work with a bunch of Big 12 and SEC guys, and they are all pumped about the changes, etc. They ask me every day who we are getting like it's a big joke. I'm sick of being a loser program...unfortunately I'm doubting more and more every day that whoever we hire is going to do a damn thing to turn it around.

Unless I'm "wowed" I'm not renewing my season tickets...I know I'm just one guy (with two tickets), but something tells me I won't be the only one not buying them if our next coach doesn't inspire some excitement and hope.

In all fairness Dwan never said it was Butch Davis, and Dwan in conversations I've had with him, he didn't say at any point he thought Butch was the guy, quite to the contrary. I did however think he was referring to Butch at first, but clearly he wasn't

Can't say. Others have better sources in this area than I do. I do know, and have said, that the coach will not be Nutt and it will not be Bowden.

And it will not be Dodge or Barnett based upon my conversation with Orsini a couple of weeks ago. He also said we could have had Dodge last year and we could have had Butch Davis. I still believe he has had his man for some time -- although he didn't say so to me.

I'm still very confident in my source. I have been told we have a coach, it is a guy Orsini has always wanted, and it will be a hire very similar to coach Doh in basketball. I also stated it will be a name that everybody will be excited about. However, I have since learned that with the group on this board, unless we hire Pete Carroll or Bob Stoops, people will have issuse with the coach.

I threw my name in the ring just in case no one else pans out.

Nah, I would settle for Parcells or Jimmy as well.

I don't see Franny as a Doh hire.....Mike Shula is the closest to a doh hire that I can think of.....

Yep if you want to pick the "closest to a Doh hire" then Mike Shula is the pick as I posted about a week ago.

I'll fully support your hire. We need a true architect for the program.

Sorry, no offense to lf68, but I don't think the backwards burnt orange hat under the headset would fly.

Look - there would be no need to keep looking like a second-class, pee-on job if the hire was going to be Shula. The announcement could have been made earlier than now. Same goes for all but a handful of would-be candidates. I am all for being hopeful but we also need to be realistic.

While I don't necessarily think it is Orsini's fault that there is a lack of interest in this job, I do think by this point he should have been able to handle and spin it better. He is looking foolish. Perhaps some of you who know him might put a little pressure to let you in on what's going on on the inside.

The outside is a quiet as a church mouse.
