...if we don't end up with a decent coach after firing Phil midseason to get a headstart on the coaching search.
How many HC jobs have both opened up and been filled in the past seven days?
And we still have nothing after several weeks?
The only thing worse than that is the number of horse$hit "sources" that some people on this board have.
Oh well, at least we won a bball game finally.
My name is Junior, and I personally endorsed this post.

I'm not sure Orsini is really in control at all. I think others are telling him who he can and cannot hire etc. If Orsini had been left to make the hire, it would have been done by now. This has been some of the problems at SMU in the past. I'm certianly not impressed with the situation so for except the money raised.....Stallion is right in that coaches are slow walking SMU right now.

Why do people keep blasting Orsini? He has reached an agreement with a coach for SMU football. You seem to think you are privileged to know who it is right away. If you were important, in the realm of Mustang football, someone important, in the realm of Mustang football, would have told you. You are a "nobody", so live with it. You do not need to know who the coach is at this time. Relax and wait for the announcement. It will give you time to collect your incessant negative thoughts and work yourself into a tizzy or a frenzy - whichever comes first.

Berg, I believed the same thing. I said from the beginning that he had his man when he was hired. If so, why all the smokescreens with the team? We are in trouble Berg, and you know it. This football program cannot wait until the last minute to hire a coach. Even Orsinis man may back out on him for another job. There is nothing in writing?

Then I guess that us nobodies can all stop giving money (at any level) to the athletic department and leave that to the small inner circle of elite donors.
I guess we can all stop going to the games as well, seeing as we don't matter.
I guess all of us who don't know who the coach is can stop posting here as well.
It's all about perception, and a lot of people perceive that Orsini and/or the administration have dropped the ball. I want nothing more than to open up my email sometime in the next month and realize that I grossly underestimated them both, but until that happens, I'm gonna say what I'm thinking.

Dang, you've got a choice to make. Either have faith that Orsini's a bad arss or not. If he is, don't worry and have fun with this process. If he's not, we really are in trouble. We're not going to know and we don't have any control anyway. His track record has been good up till now, why not give him the benefit of the doubt? I think Barnett, Terry Bowden, Gailey and others will be there for backups if Orsini's man doesn't come through.

Wow, thanks for putting us all in our place. I think that was pretty important. Next time I get a phone call from the athletic deparment, I'll just tell them that they dont need my donation, I'm just a nobody.
Oh, point of order, Mr. Somebody, do I need to get your permission before I write anymore posts on the board? Little old me wouldnt want to overstep my bounds again.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

Unfortunately Orsini is already looking like a fool, but it may not be totally his fault. I mentioned shortly after Bennett was fired that there was complete apathy about this job. Orsini needed to strike at least while the iron was hot, but he didn't take his sure things. Now, he is left to get the scraps from the table.
Trust me - those in the outside world that know anything about SMU and that it is looking for a coach are all wondering what the hell is going on.
