The guy his one of the most respected head coaches in the country and is now a national name. High school coaches and players know we he is at the very least as that guy that won at Navy

Could the delay in announcement just be a BRILLIANT plan to build up media attention on Johnson as a top candidate to fill spots anywhere before we announce he is a MUSTANG!???

We don't know if Johnson can't recruit. He was operating under different rules at both Georgia Southern and Navy but does that mean he can only recruit under those specific sets of rules? We don't know. Stallion doesn't know. Notwithstanding the probability that he'll run the triple option here and that will effect recruiting, we don't know if he'll be able to recruit or not. He might be one charming mf'in pig.

That is exactly the problem with Paul Johnson, we don't know if he will be able to recruit. Aren't we spending a large sum of money to get a proven coach and recruiter? If you are going for uncertainty you might as well lure Todd Dodge and spend the rest on top tier assistants.

I was hoping this was a post regarding P.D. Johnson's.
Whether it's a media ploy (pointless) or Orsini has noone lined up (likely), I am already way over the 'coaching search'. F*ing HIRE SOMEONE so they can begin to recruit...
At least if it were P.D. Johnson's, we'd have some good sandwiches to eat...

If Johnson can talk an 18 year old into signing essentially a 9 year committment to be in the Navy (including years at the Academy) during a time of War, the man can recruit. How many on this board would voluntarily join the Navy or the Marines right now, if they had other choices? Get the picture. And his players do fine. Yes, he loses some games to some sorry teams, but he hung 76 points on UNT and we only hung 48. Now his defense was as bad as ours. Let's see how bad Navy beats Army this weekend. I'm betting at least a 20 point blow out.

it's rumored President Turner really wants Paul Johnson
we could do worse
from Bennett to Paul Johnson is a huge upgrade
but will Paul Johnson make SMU a "Top 25" team?
C-ya @ Milos!

My source in his brain said "Why not, yeah, I just turned around Mid-shipman program that had won 2 games in two years before I got there. Let me take on another difficult program and turn down the BCS offers too, so I can do it AGAIN!

How many of this athletes were not entertaining the idea of joining the millitary until Johnson came calling?
How many people join the millitary every year? He gets to pick the best from that entire pool. The Navy is the safest avenue for anyone joining the service these days.
