The average Sun Belt ranking is 118.25, the average C-USA ranking is 116.67. Is there any actual math that Sagarin uses to decide order or is it out of a hat?

With Boise State in the BCS last year and Hawaii this year, I really miss the WAC!

Dont be so sure. Arkansas State finished in the bottom half of the Sun Belt, and in the bottom 10 of the ESPN and Rivals national rankings, but they went 2-1 against C-USA, including a win over one of our bowl teams, Memphis. Memphis also lost to Middle Tennessee.

Both leagues had several schools floundering at the bottom of Division 1. SMU, UAB, and Marshal in C-USA, and UNT, Arky State and FIU in the Sun Belt. Rice had a poor start to the season that included a loss to Nicholls State, but they won 3 games in conference. Marshall lost to New Hampshire, a mediocre 1-AA team (Or championship subdivision, if you prefer) but won 3 games in C-USA.

Comparing wins against by either conference against the BCS, UCF beat North Carolina State, and East Carolina beat North Carolina, but neither UNC or NC State had winning records this year. In the Sun Belt, La. Monroe beat Alabama, Florida Atlantic beat Minnesotta, and Troy beat Oklahoma State.

The two conferences were pretty close this year, head to head, each league won 3 games from the other. Out of conference, though, the Sun Belt had better wins.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.

the big east is the 2nd best conference in football? what a joke. just that is enough to completely discredit his "analysis"

Agreed. The Big East is terrible and any 'analysis' that validates them is flawed
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones
