So, what's the prediction on the 2008 recruiting class?

Postby BRStang » Mon Dec 03, 2007 10:11 am

Anyone know what recruits we are going to be able to salvage at this point?

Maybe Orsini is just waiting until February to hire a coach so that recruits will read this board and think that Terry Bowden and Paul Johnson are coming in to be co-head coaches.

2008 Commitment List

COMMITTED/NOT YET SIGNED Pos Stars Ht Wt 40 RR Video Hometown
Matt Allen OL 6-3 275 - 5.2 Tulsa, OK
Cole Beasley ATH 5-9 155 - 5.2 Little Elm, TX
Ralston Dews DT 6-0 343 - 5.1 Tyler, TX
Andrew Ellison TE 6-2 232 4.49 5.3 College Station, TX
Ladarrius Gunn DB 5-9 160 4.4 5.2 Paris, TX
Nick Sampson DB 6-0 184 4.5 5.4 Spring, TX
Braden Smith QB 6-0 190 - 5.0 Rockwall, TX

Cole Beasly is the best athlete out of the bunch. Look at his size? You can bet we will lose Matt Allen to Tulsa while this coaching search is going on. Hopefully the other 5 can bring something to the table.

not judging new Coach whoever it might be-but we are in as bad shape as we have ever been. Very few quality prospects on the line right now. That's where the new Coach starts.

He will have to start with what we got. It will be too late to do any quality recruiting by the time we get someone in here. HS football playoffs have three weeks to go and we don't have a coach. Probably not a HC on the radar, just a plane.

The JUCO signing day I believe is the day after tomorrow. So anyone hoping for immediate help out of the JC ranks is probably going to be dissapointed.

Also, with the football regular season over, Texas high school seniors can start taking Official visits to campuses. I would imagine that most of the remaining uncommitted quality recruits at least have 2-3 visits already set up. Whoever the new coach is will be starting over at the bottom, calling/writing recruits just to find out if they have any interest.

Fran nobody. I doubt he's going to be coaching anywhere next season. The e-mail scandal contained some real NCAA violations, wherever he goes the NCAA is going to be holding onto the tail of his shirt. Most schools wont touch him, and I wont be surprised if he is censured.

We've lost 1 and he was considered a soft commit anyway. I would hardly call that "losing recruits by the day".

Then I sure hope PJ is a defenive genius, not just an offensive guru. could be an ugly first year for new coach. That is the biggest danger of all. We see it with Doherty. Lots of hope, but no enthusiasm for hoops right now. theres a difference.

We lost one. We only had eight, now we have seven. All of them are verbal only. Seven freaking recruits! Not one of them would be ready to play for 3 years minimum.

Recruits are watching our situation. Sure we are way behind, but if we get a big name coach, don't think there won't be some interest and change of minds in our favor. Besides JC's, signing day is still over 2 months away.

Perhaps you should realize how many we had verbally committed at this time last year. I'll even do the research for you.

We had FIVE! 7>5, so shush.

Some of you doom and gloomers need to settle down.
