Yea, it would, unless it was a Neuheisel type, ie NFL coordinator.
Either way, Fordtotolbert is everything I hated about my SMU experience. Yesterday, on the other hand, was the first time SMU athletics seemed alive in years.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones

Or Mike Shula, or David Cutcliffe. There are NFL and college coordinators with head coaching experience and success.

PonyDoh...bro, I thought we had a bond. But, please, PLEASE..do not base your Pony Fan "aliveness" on how may people are climbing drain pipes outside of O's office, or if a dude is trying to scale the chain link / wire fence at Love, or based on how many wild asses / wild eyed / masturbatory rumors are flying around here, by the same 47 people. If we want to be big time, let's base it on ticket sales and athletic revenue. Sorry you missed the '80 Holiday Bowl, '83 Cotton, '84 Sun, '98 tcu game, Chad Allens shot v. Rice to ice the the '92-93 SWC title, OT W v. Tulsa in '05 WAC Tourney, and I could go on, but, it was pretty "live" ...long live Shawn Cantrell.

Come on man, let people have a little fun. Watching a freakin' plane's not hurting anything. If SMU was more fun, we might be able to get Dallasites out to watch us.

What is your problem with people having enthusiasm? I'd much rather have Ford stadium full of nutcases who would care enough to scale a drain pipe than full of guys in sport coats politely talking to each other and clapping with decorum when we score.
Hell, a few students getting arrested for hiding in Ford's jet with cameras to get the scoop would probably boost attendance by helping shed the disinterested rich-boy image.

That was a sweet shot! I was in the student section. We could always count on Chad's tre.

Love passion, no doubt..we need that passion to turn into butts in the seats, Mustang Club donations that actually mean something, peope who care...that is when we know this thing is alive, not when some dude scales a drain pipe, as PD referenced. KU game on Ford's first day was pretty fun...btw.

Agreed. Apathy is the #1 problem of the SMU fanbase. A glance in the Fortress of Solitude (otherwise known as the club level seats at Ford) when the other 500 fans in the stadium are going wild will tell you that.

Agreed. Why must some take themselves so seriously. Some of us weren't alive/coherent enough to enjoy some of those great moments outlined - does it hurt that we are excited about the possibility of starting an era like that again?

I'm not a kid, Fordtotolbert. I remember, or was at every game you mention. Don't color me a current student. BTW, the Allen vs Rice shot, and the OT win vs. Tulsa weren't that 'live'. Neither was the '98 TCU game. Just the best of a pretty damn poor contemporary era in the schools AD.
You see, thats the problem around here, you are so serious, you take away the fun of being a fan. We've had basically nothing to hang our hat on, and you point to stuff that is barely a blip on the radar. Why take a dump on everyones fun, when it's literally all we have. Or, we could all be like you, have a frown on our face, act snooty, and remember bowl games from 25 years ago, when our payroll was as big as our accomplishments.

Personally, I think Turner just found out about the "Secret Coach" thread and wanted to see the whole thing in all its glory.
But that's just me.

Man, I wish I could remember a bowl game and act snooty with FordtoTolbert. Unfortunately the last time SMU was in a bowl was before I was in Kindergarten!

I am sorry sir, I was picking up a much young vibe from you. I go to games, I scream like crazy..still horse from the UM game, fly 3 freakin Pony flags outside the mansion, give money to the Mustang Club, wear my little SMU hats / shirts wherever I go, office is filled with SMU crap, so, I would call myself a pretty passionate fan. I have NO problem with passion / love / wackyness..but, this weeks totally sophmoric [deleted] as hit a nerve, strikes me as stange, just my opinion. Let's turn this nuttiness into FINALLY getting Mustang Club donations to $2.0mm, or selling 20,000 season tickets to fball, 7500 to bball? NOT getting all foamy when some dude reports a plane flight or some Lambda Chi scales a tree to sneak a look into O's bathroom...that's all. Long Live Gary Hammond, remember him?

Silly man. Lambda Chis don't scale trees. They might skin their knees.
