Big Bob Toledo @ TulaneHe is doing a pretty good job of recruiting especailly when you consider he has to sell New Orleans
First of all, New Orleans is where people go to recruit. The wealth of talent in the Greater New Orleans is part of the reason LSU is in the National Championship. The level of talent in New Orleans makes the Metroplex look metrosexual.
Second, Tulane is about 10 levels ahead of SMU when it comes to national recognition for academics. Finally, with respect to student life in New Orleans, what's not to like (uptown bars, French Quarter, Mardi Gras)? Sorry, but I think Toledo has a lot to sell.
you must be high? Post Katrina, many of the top high school football players and high school athletes have been spread across the country. The city still has a long way to go with regards to recovering from Katrina which makes it a tough sell these days. Also, some of his best recruits have been from Texas
New Orleans Post Katrina, by itself still has more talent then any city in Texas period. Texas is just lucky they don't play LSU. And as far as the recovery goes, the entire landscape of New Orleans has changed. From what I have both heard and seen (when I go visit my cousins) is a developing city where the climate for growth has never been more business friendly. As far as the crime, it's designated to confined areas and is being reduced by the day. And the area where Tulane is located is extremely nice and looks untouched by the hurricane.
More talent in New Orleans than D/FW? Are you talking about jazz musicians? Tulane also is not "10 levels ahead" in academics. Have you been to New Orleans lately?
You're out of your mind. I'm originally from Louisiana and am a LSU fan and there is no way I'd make the argument that NOLA has more talent than DFW...That just isn't true. Perhaps you could make an argument on a "per capita" basis, but not head-to-head...Not even Pre-Katrina did NOLA have more talent.
I live in New Orleans and i can tell you that the talent in New Orleans and Baton Rouge combined is better than the Dallas area, but many of LSU's recruits come from the Baton Rouge area and other cities, not mainly New Orleans. And regarding to the city of New Orleans post - Katrina, it is very hard to get recruits to stay in NO due to the fact that the infrastructure is still very broken, maybe not to a tourist, but trust me. Crime is rampant and yes it is in confined areas, but the French Quarter is not that far away from Tulane campus and i would not consider Tulane one of the safest campuses in the country. So for a coach who can get recruits from out of state to commit to New Orleans, it shows there is some ability.
Look, with all the BS flying around about New Orleans, I agree it's hard to recruit. So, I give Toldeo credit for that. But let's be honest, Tulane kids aren't exposed to crime and are certainly not exposed to any infrastructure issues. As far as Baton Rouge goes, that city has always just been jealous of New Orleans and the attention it gets and are unable to deal with the fact that they are nothing more then a truck stop on the way to Houston (that happens to have a football stadium in it). If New Orleans is headed down (which it is not) at least it can claim it was once a great city that is known on every corner of the world. What can Baton Rouge claim? Exactly
poor tribalistic fella... I think he might be serious. -CoS PS: I do hope your family finally moved out of our Wal-Mart. The Poor folks were getting wrestless.
What kind of "evidence" do you want? Please don't say stars, or we would have bypassed every Justin Rogers and Chris Bordano for more Richuel Masseys and Rickey Joe Meekses.
How do you come up with 1/3 as your fraction? Why not 1/4? 1/2? Not challenging, just curious how you come up with such an arbitrary figure.... which makes your disagreement sound like opinion more than fact. What am I missing here? Thanks.
Uh, yeah, whatever. I wouldn't live in New Orleans even if I had your piss-ant life. Oh, and, as far as Baton Rouge, I moved here from Dallas and I wouldn't ever want to live anywhere else. Next time you're passing through, remember to just keep driving. P.S., I hope Chavez' henchmen come and pay a visit to your seedy little international @ss.
See BRStang, You had no defense to my comments because you know I’m right. You know all too well that Baton Rouge is nothing more then a village filled with cheese from around the state of Louisiana, who just love those tigers. My cousin was hoping you people wouldn't be in either the Sugar Bowl or National Championship due to the fact that LSU brings so much trailer trash when they come. And all of you are cheap according to him. The class of the State, still is, and will always be in New Orleans. And if one of you inbred fellas ever need an education, where do you go? That's right - Tulane. As Far as LSU goes, they care about one thing Football. And let me also say Venezuela is beautiful place. I recommend everyone come visit.
