Will SMU have a coach before Christmas?

I can't remember a coaching search dragging on this long. It's quite interesting.

Santa Claus has been out of the coaching game for a while...maybe were waiting until the 26th to hire him...

Seriously, I doubt it.

If we are looking at a current college coach that is in a bowl, then don't expect anything before Jan. 2, 2008. If we are looking at an NFL coach or assistant, then don't expect anything before Jan. 7, 2008.

So just cool off, do your Christmas shopping and get back to work. I am so friggin behind I have taken this attitude and am actually starting to get some work done.
Just send 'da money.

I'm dreamin'
of a White Christmas

Just like the ones I used to know
Where the tree tops glisten
and children listen
to hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreamin'
of a White Christmas

With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

Comet is actually THE coach. Note red and blue cap and whistle. He can run the hell out of the deer formation.

I have no expectations as to the hiring of a coach. Because of this, if we ever actually do hire a coach, I will be pleasantly surprised. :)

It appears now it will be the end of December at the earliest. When is the dead period for recruiting over?

After all of the bowl games, I believe. (The dead period is intended to give recruits a break from being harrassed over the holidays, but also prevents teams from getting an unfair advantage during bowl season.)

I thought I remember teams calling recruits from the sidelines during the bowl games and at half time. Maybe those cases are during the Jan. bowls.
