Gambino, either you are incredibly dense, or you just don't know how the game is being played. The "search firm" has contacted the "agents" of all of these coaches so everyone can say they never were contacted, and they never received an offer. Plausible deniability. I am certain that the search firm either contacted or was contacted by every living and breathing agent in the world and that parameters and levels of interest were discussed.
why would any agent say "no we haven't been contacted yet but would be interested in listening if SMU did" if they were contacted by the E&B search firm but weren't interested at all. THAT would be dense. it's pretty clear to me that E&B haven't contacted most these hot shot coaches, otherwise there is no need for the "we'd be interested" statement.

Some of you guys really crack me up with your second guessing of Orsini.
Maybe some of y'all should offer some investment advice to Warren Buffett while you are at. Or you could sit back and see who Orsini hires. If the new coach s*cks (which I doubt), then let Orsini have it.
Regardless of the ins and outs of how universities contact potential coaching candidates, to say that Bowden has been slow playing SMU for nearly two months is an incorrect statement. He has on several occasions made minor and informal ovations to people that would give a darn about hiring him as coach, with no response. He's also watched every other job opening get filled without even being seriously considered for any one of them. One interview at Georgia Tech in the midst of them wrapping up Paul Johnson? Wow. Phil Bennett took more interviews the year he was hired at SMU.
It's been two months and he hasn't been more than a floating name with almost no validity. I would love to see what makes him such a hot coaching commodity this year that he would slow play us for two months to wait for the job at his alma mater to open while what, another 10 jobs were filled without even giving him consideration? Something is amiss there that he hasn't been a more viable candidate for schools. Also, sorry, it might hurt to hear but if SMU picked up the phone and called him, the portly SOB would be on campus the same day.
