But you're absolutely right that its down to SMU, UCLA, and West Virginia so if there are several candidates out there then that bodes well for SMU (in theory).

I have been told all along that we will most likely wait until after a bowl game is over to announce. if the leaks hadn't gotten out about johnson and it was done in private, we probably wouldn't have heard anything about that hire until the 21st

Turner wanted to announce a hire at the recent board meeting so either there is a huge disconnect between Turner and Orsini or your source is revising history.......

that didnt happen because PJ spurned us and Krag fell through. Turner doesnt have his man, neither does Orsini...so its all F'd Up

The coaching blogs refuse to speculate about us anymore except for the occasional comment from coaching carousel. The national media (ESPN) says nothing about us. We are off the radar. SMUblog does give some comments which is nice.

ESPN says nothing about us because theres nothing to REPORT...with 2-3 weeks to go in the season Gary Barnett went on record saying he wanted the job, ESPN reported it. ESPN also reported Krag and him staying at UL when he was linked to the SMU job. Same goes for the PJ hire at GT. We were mentioned as a possible suiter for PJ but he didnt choose us.

WHEN THERES NOTHING TO REPORT, then no one talks about us.

Delay

This only makes sense at all if the coach is locked in. Reading into Orsini's comments, that appears to be the case.

I'm also fairly certain that Orsini stated that the hire would be made before Christmas break, so they could inform the players before they left, and that the team would be told before the news was released to the media.
Try not to choke on the Kool-Aid.
