The internet has, in addition to making the lives of sexual predators far easier, given birth to a new type of low-life, and it pains me that this board contains more than one.
They lecture, pontificate and boast of their knowledge of SMU football. They know what is going on with this search. In the world of the college football politics and wheeling and dealing they are omnipotent. They will tell you who should this, and who would that and blah-di-blah-di-blah.
But tell you their name, or what their connection with SMU is? No chance.
Little people with little lives. If you cant be respected in the real world, don't come here to bully people into thinking your something to look up to.
I'm James O'Sullivan. I came to SMU from Ireland in 1999. My first Pony game was aginast Arkansas at the Cotton Bowl. I taught MUHI 1321 for 5 semesters, loved my students, graduated with my Masters In Music Education in 2001 and I went to every game I could, and listened to/watched the rest. Sometimes from Ireland. I love SMU Football. I don't know much about the game other than my heart races, I feel every moment of it and I never give up believing. I am on this board because I love to think about SMU football. Football season is the best.
I call myself Mustangsabu becasue "abu" is a gaelic term showing support, and roughly translates as "Up Mustangs!" which, given this seasons ill-fated motto, seemed very suitable.
Whoever the new coach is - I will be there to see him, and my now seven month old son will be right beside me.
I've made my life in Dallas, I've chosen my team.

That's why I call myself ThadFilms... don't want any confusion. I'm saying what I am saying at I'd say it in person.

I have an Irish joke. It's a long one.... I started to tell it to a couple of Irishmen at bar early one Sunday morning when I went out to watch a Celtic match. (There's nothing liker shooting Jameson's and drinking Guiness at 8:30 in the morning with a bunch of folks who have probably been drinking all night, as they sing and order unsuspecting strangers rounds of Smithwick's.) As soon as I started into the joke, one cut me off, and said "Oh, that's a Scottish joke! -" he broke into a Scottish accent and hit the punch line. I'd spill it, but it's a good joke I'd hate to ruin it for all the readers... Oh, that's a Scottish joke!
I love it.

I am a proud member of the Celtic Supporters Club here in Dallas. This season I rarely madke the games becasue my wife would understnadibly castrate me if I dissappeared every Saturday or Sunday morning to watch the hoops instead of helping her with our son who I've not seen much of all week.
I take it you refer to trips to the Dubliner on Greenville to watch games, Thadfilms?

I was not attmepting to goad a response from anyone, because I have no interest in what those who would feel goaded might have to say, unless of course it is backed by more than their typical cyber-chest-pounding and groin-grabbing.
It is those who wish to create a fellowship of SMU fans that I am interested in.
(And my God I just read that and I apologize for sounding like I should be about to break out a Tolkien book - and some might say that a similarly epic struggle faces our beloved Ponies)

Yes, if I were in Dallas. However.... I'm in Austin..... so it's usually Fado's or Mother Egan's...... it's funny, I'm the big soccer fan, but it's usually my big drinking fan who could care less about the score in any sport who hips me to it. Hey man, Fado's this Sunday, they open at 7:30AM.... "Are you insane, I don't wake up that early for work! Let's do it."
He's more of an alcohol fan then a sports fan. We've hit maybe three or four games this year. Then go out for lunch after. I'm usually back in bed by 3. It takes a toll. But that's why it's fun.
I wouldn't confuse myself with a Celtic fan, but I root them on when their on the tele. Certainly not a Rangers fan if your concerned.
I'm just up for a good football game, esp. with ex-pats from the countries in question. (I lived in Europe as a kid... I can't get enough of it.) Love to find a nice little Italian restaurant that opens up for an Roma-AC Milan game. That would be fun.

I think a hurling thread is a fantiastic idea. Perhaps we would get D.J. Carey to coach the Ponies!
