Is on his 2nd interview with UCLA. Does this mean Neuheisel is out? Is Rick in at SMU? Golden is 5-19 with Temple. UCLA is interviewing this guy? Strange. Very strange. Hey UCLA PB is available.

Golden has proven capable at one of the worst football schools in America, much like Turner Gill. Golden is regarded as a recruiting machine on the East Coast, not sure how that relates to UCLA, though
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones

He did win 4 games at Temple last year. If UCLA is reaching for him the field must be pretty dry by now. We would be very lucky to get someone like Fran. Maybe Rick has to much baggage even for UCLA which means for us also.

UCLA has historically run a rather clean program and has not tolerated NCAA violations. That said, Brittney Spears would probably be a 4.0 student at UCLA.

I think you're confusing UCLA with USC.

No USC is on par with SMU in academics. UCLA is not that tough except in some departments like film. And USC's NCAA violations are legendary.

UCLA has their share of b-ball violations in recent years (anyone remember Hanrrick) but what really strikes me is that Neuheisel himself has 52 NCAA violations. WOW! If we are waiting on him I must be missing something. Evedently Chow has withdrawn himself for the UCLA search. Looks to me like UCLA is in full scramble mode. Golden my be an up and comer but to land at a place like UCLA after 2 years as HC of Temple is a meteoric rise.

Both USC and UCLA are miles ahead of SMU in academics.....we only think we are like Duke or Vanderbilt and we are only close to those school academically when it comes to admitting football players

Academically, UCLA is in fact a top rated public university. Outside of Cal Berkeley & UVA, UCLA (at #25) is rated higher than Georgia Tech, Michigan, and UT or A&M (& SMU at #67). As with nearly all football schools, they can slip in a few questionable students, however it's a great university... the problems to succeed at UCLA has more to do with USC & Cal Berkeley than with anything else.

I knew that Neuheisel had some violations, but that is about 10 times as much as I would have guessed. Frankly, I am not surprised. Where did you find that info? Curious to see what he was "officially" caught on.

Proven capable of what??? Only losing 7 games a season instead of 12. That's the loser mentality that got Phil Bennett those contract extensions. Gill and Golden need to post at the very LEAST 1 winning season before everyone starts touting them as legitimate head coaches.
