Actually the phrase refers to pants in the British sense, that being "underpants" in the great US of A.
But I like the idea of something good and true being "total shirt!"

This delay is very much like a self inflicted probation. I pointed this out a week or two ago. In fact, this is far worse than probation. Losing 3 or 4 scholarships is nothing compared to the difference that 3 or 4 weeks will make to this entire recruiting class. Some coaches only get one honeymoon recruiting period where they can snag some surprises. Cavan did it. Bennett did it. And presently, we are closing the window on our new coach being able to do it. You only hire a new coach every 5 or 10 years. You have to capitalize on the excitement of it. Fran or Neuheisal might be able to snag a few top 100s away from others if you gave them a chance but that chance is dwindling and will probably not come around again.
maybe we should just start cutting corners on rules again, its not like we have to worry about recruiting according to alot of you. Might as well lose 5 or 6 schollies. Dont have to worry about bowl games either, what does probation matter? this is mostly tongue in cheek but think about it.
Stallion, I'm afraid, is right. Orsini has effectively put SMU on probation. I'm not talking about the handful of recruits supposedly already verbally committed, I'm talking about quality recruits looking at other schools that might have been added had a new coach been brought in early on. Without a class, we have nothing to fill in the gaps and nothing to build upon for the future. We could be hamstrung now for the next 4 or 5 years because of this. What coach wants to come in now and coach with one arm tied behind his back?

You all can bash Stallion all you want, I guess it is exciting to do so. But he has listed coaches he likes on several occasions. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand

LOL....it is really a waste of time. We will most likely have a coach this time next week. And all the doom & gloomers will move on to some new subject. Something else will be just horrible. Either the new coach will suck or recruits will suck. Like we get soooo many great recruits anyway! It all boils down to....who ya gonna trust? Some blow hard know-it-all on a message board or somebody with a REAL TRACK RECORD! ANY QUESTIONS? C-ya @ Milos!
you have made over 1000 posts within 12 months under the name of "firephil" and you are giving lessons and admonishing people that all they do is bash this and that? I think the real form of pessimism is starting to come out and define itself on this board. Its those that say it doesn't matter if we hire a coach now, or last week or two weeks from now, the recruiting class would be the same no matter what. That is true pessimism. Those that think it does make a difference, and every day that goes by makes a difference, are the ones with true optimism for what SMU football could be.
Can you or someone find and post where SMU's signed recruits ranked for each year that Bennett was here? Then let's see where we rank after the new coach.
