Because he was either a friend, family member, teammate, or favorite player for many people, and the guy was freakin' murdered due to ZERO fault of his own, maybe? I don't know, call it human nature for people to want to remember him fondly. Funny that Skins fans can't memorialize Sean Taylor, but Dallas fans are still bitter at Philly fans for cheering when Michael Irvin got injured there and it ended his career. Oh, and last time I checked, Michael Irvin is still alive and got in the Hall of Fame, so you guys get over it first, then maybe we will.
someone's death and a bitter rival's player getting hurt are two completely different things ![]()
Absolutely true. I used that analogy to show how ridiculous Cowboys fans can be when it comes to matters on other people's teams, and yet they are so self-centered, and self-righteous when it comes to matters of their own team, even if their own event wasn't nearly as damaging. That was the point.
Sean Taylor was killed in a senseless act of random violence. Other than having a nice house, he did nothing to merit being murdered. He by all accounts had become a family man and had put his rough life aside. His teammates cared deeply for him as did Joe Gibbs. I don't recall a single time in Gibbs career that he has been as deeply crushed as he was when Taylor was killed. The team rallyed around a fallen comrade. That provided them with four unbelievable wins in a row. The must win game over the Bears on a short week with a funeral when they lost Campbell. The win over the Giants in the Meadowlands wind tunnel. The win over Minnesota on the road. And now the Cowboys on a messy day. This is the hottest team in the NFL besides New England. I don't think anyone wants to face them in the playoffs.
