You can only blame the administration for that (Orsini, Turner, etc.), and especially Orsini. Remember he and Vicki Hill posted on the blog and DMN chat that SMU's model is nationally competitive. They reiterated that for some reason there is an erred notion that SMU is hamstrung in recruiting and denied it. Based on their words, I can only conclude that Orsini is a terrible/incompetent salesman or a liar.

My apologies for fearing the worst! Congratulations to Mr. Orsini for getting one of his men! June Jones is obviously an "A lister". While I still disagree with the duration of the search and think that there are many qualified candidates that can right this ship hiring Coach Jones is a tremendous coup for SMU. Hopefully the administration will give Coach Jones everything he needs to succeed at SMU. I am happy to see the search is finally over, but remember that this is only the beginning. I will celebrate once we start winning. This is a big first step though! See you at a Bowl Game sometime soon. Dare we say Hawaii Bowl?
