Yesterday after meeting with players and coaches, the word was 99% chance of leaving.
As of 2PM HST, SMU is still without a coach. I felt all along that SMU was not a good fit and despite the $$$, the idea was to put major pressure on the UH admin with about as serious leverage you could get. If it hasn't happened by now, it won't happen and the reports of a snag are all about the agreement from the UH to do something besides talk about improving facilities.
Place your bets folks!
Best case scenario: JJ now returns as a hero, and Frazier will find himself on a very hot seat for allowing the process to develop the way it did. The BOR gets the word from the Hinshaw that there has been a lack of good leadership from the AD across the board and it's time for a change. In addition, there were stories bandied about yesterday of HF treating 150 of his "friends" to the best that $$ could buy (the UH's $$ that is) in NO. Not exactly the right move for an athletic dept. supposedly unable to get the head coach a new carpet or chair for his office!
