Steinberg is bluffing by increasing the DRAMATrust me, Hawaii can't match SMU. This is nothing more then a last minute negotiating tactic to get more $$$$$$$ from SMU. Don't by it Orsini. Hope the boys over at the COX Business school explain this to Orsini.
No he wouldn't. He would look like a genius to all UH fans. He would've done the ONE thing that got UH's attention to make the changes that are needed. And, he gets to stay in the place he loves. Geaux MUSTANGS! Geaux Tigers!
No - you are wrong - they cant upgrade the facilities or they would have. THey dont have the dough. He would look like a whiney little child if he comes back for 1.3 and a bunch of new promises. Steinberg is twisting us at the last second - because that is what agents do. Pull back and let him swing in the wind a bit. He aint going back to Hawaii as their coach.
Steinberg: Part of the problem is that Hawaii is four hours behind us.
What the hell does that mean? What difference does it make if it's 10PM in Dallas and 6PM in Honolulu? What possible effect could that have? I think is is now CLEARLY obvious he is playing us off against UH. The money they proposed for him is not a problem. So what does he want from UH? Higher assistant salaries, improved budgets, competitive facilities. So who could promise these things and who could he trust to deliver? Not the governor, she's a lame duck. The President of the UH system? Doesn't he have to get the money from the state? I think his decision right now is whether whoever is pitching to Steinberg can be trusted to deliver after 9 years of empty promises. If he trusts them, it's back on a plane. If he doesn't, he'll put on the mustang cap. Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.
