The announcer also mentioned that one of UH's recruits had said that if Jones went to SMU, he would, too. Granted, he mentioned no names AND that kid could have just been blowing smoke.

Compared to SMU? Yes. Overall... hmm.. not quite. They are ranked in the top 25 in most years. Does that make them a national power? I don't think so.
